Wandell (Body lift Install)

This is directed towards Wandell, but advice/tips from anyone is appreciated!!! I am gonna install a body lift on my Supercrew 4x4 (auto) & was wondering if someone could tell me some shortcuts, tricks, anything that would help me! I have installed several body lifts on Toyotas, & Chevrolets so I have a general idea...just wanted to know if there were any pointers on the Ford Supercrew.

Thanks!
Derek

Ford uses a ton of Locktite. Start soaking the body bolts in penetrating oil now. When you actually lift the body, lift one side of the cab and the bed at the same time. The way the bed is designed, where it wraps around the cab, will cause the bed and cab to hit if you try to lift one at the time. The easiest thing to do with the radiator shroud is to trim the lower corner to clear your oil cooler lines. Also, on the rear bumper, I wound up not using the supplied mounting brackets. I simply mounted the rear bumper by putting the lower mounting bolts through the upper mounting bolts on the frame. When I used the supplied brackets, it actually lifted my rear bumper a tad too high, cousing it to contact my tailgate when I lowered it. I know I only have it mounted with two bolts now but it seems as sturdy as it was with the lift brackets installed. In regards to the front valance, and tow hooks, this is what I did. I trimmed the ends of the frame horns off directly in front of where the tow hook mounting holes are. This allowed me to mount the front bumper without any problems with the valance contacting the frame. I then got a set of GM tow hooks from an 88-98 Chevy 4x4. I mounted them inside the frame horns using my OEM Ford bolts and nuts/mounting plate. They lined up perfectly and fit through the orignal tow hook cutouts in my valance. I have some pics in my gallary of this mod.
