Lift Question

First, I apologize if this has been answered before, i checked through a lot of pages and didnt find anything.

I have a 2000 F-140 4x4 Xcab. I currently run 285x75xr16's (basically 33") on it without any lift. It rubs only when i make extreme turns. I want to put 315x75xr16's on it (basically 35") and i know i will need a suspension lift. I was talkint to a guy who told me i should get a 6" lift to make sure it doesnt rub. But shouldnt a 4" life be sufficient? If i'm only going up 2" in tire size, if even that, then why do i need to go up 6" in lift? Anyone have a similar experience with these set ups?

Also, are there any other things i should look into when i get this done? I am going to get a superchip to try and get my power to level out.

Thanks in advance.

a 4" would be ok if you cranc the torsions and only run a 8" wide wheel, 6" and you can run a 10" wide wheel, i would recomend you regear to releave the stress from the tranny and regain lost power from the taller heaveir rubber
