Replace shocks?
My 02 F150 Supercab has whatever the "heavy duty gas" shocks are that Ford installs with its towing package. I have 22K miles on the truck and tow a 6000lb (combined weight) boat/trailer. I added helper springs to the rear to prevent sag and the truck rides pretty level when towing, but I get too much rear end bounce when I cross RR tracks, bridges, etc. Could my shocks already be shot? If so, I'm thinking of going with the Bilstein BE5-2479's. Comments will be appreciated.

My vote would be to go for either Bilstein or Edelbrock, you can't go wrong.
I would say do a
here on the board. You should find a lot of information already discussed.
By the way, welcome to F150 online.

The factory HD gas shocks don't last long. For towing, they're trash at that mileage or soon thereafter. For heavy towing, I recommend the Rancho RS9000s. They are substantially overbuilt and guaranteed for life. First, tinker with the settings until you find a daily driver firmness level that suits you. Then, you crank the rears up for towing. I did this many times on my 2000 5.4. It was a no brainer towing behemoth.
