Talking I Finaly Got A 150!!!

Hey everyone,

This is my first post and I would like to say I FINALY got a 1998 F-150 5.4 auto 4x4 Supercab Flarside Lariat. Im not sure if this is the correct forum for this question about body lifts. But I was wondering if there is any *hints* or *tricks* to do a 3" PA body lift on this truck. I heard you gotta do somthing with the relays to the airbags...can anyone please fill me in on the full story. I had a 1993 ford ranger supercab and I installed a 3" PA body lift and a 6" Skyjacker class 2 suspension and it all went fairly smooth figures I learned alot from the guys at therangerstation.com and I hope to learn as much and more from you guys here.

Thanks,
Chance

P.S. Check out my new project in my signature..tell me what mods sound good...Thanks

Welcome to the site and congrats on your truck. Sounds like a nice ride. Sorry I can't help you with your lift questions because I really know nothing about it...I just wanted to say welcome!!

What you're referring to is during the installation. You will disconnect the battery and then pull the fuse in the main pannel for the airbag system. This is to keep them from going off while working on the truck. Once you're done reinstall it. Tips for doing the body lift. Set aside a whole weekend to account for any unforseen problems you may come across. Start soaking the bolts at least a week in advance with good penetrating oil. Don't waste your time with fuel extension (there is enough slack in the line). If you have access to air tools use those, if not make sure you have a good 1/2" or 3/4" drive ratchets. A big breaker bar or cheater bar may also be necessary. Also on a truck of that age be prepared to cut some of the bolts to get them out.

Congrats on your new truck. You have started with a good vehicle for the mods you are planning. As for the body lift expect the worst and you will come out ahead. Like PS wrote, the bed bolts may have to be cut and the front body bolts will mosy likely be seized too. A lot of liquid wrench, don't use WD40 it was not intended for that, and you should be fine. After one minute of having the battery disconnected the air bag power supply is depleated so they should be safe.
