Front sway bar help

Installed rear Hellwig sway bar on my 02 supercab 2wd. Great improvement. How about the front sway bar should I put a Hellwig on or just go with the Energy Suspension bushings and end links. Thinks.

I put front and back Hellwigs on my 2000 truck. I did one at a time. The front one made the most difference of both bars and Rancho RS9000 shocks. The stock one is like 1&1/16" and the front Hellwig was 1&7/16". It was massive, heavy, and made the stock one look like a toy.

Doc-

Well, on flat surfaces it's as smooth as factory. During use cornering, it was very noticeable. There was much less fender drop/dive. You can fly at high speeds on curvy exit ramps. Even with my crappy OEM tires, it handled well when pushing it, until you could just hear the tire tread grind sideways. It was a simple install and one of the best mods that I did. The end-link kits were also beefy. Energy Suspension does make great bushings, but it's the wringing action determined by anti-sway bar strength that makes the difference.

Max, I just got off the phone with JCW on ordering the front Hellwig and they ask if my truck had the front cross member or not. Didn't know what to till him. The catolog has just 1 part number. Does a 02 2wd supercab have a front cross member.

Doc-

My guess would be that the person you spoke with isn't familiar with the product. The crossmember question is one to ask for previous body styles before 1997. The front anti-sway bar that they sent me was Hellwig part #7646. JC's part # will be different, but it will fit 1997-2003s. I looked at JC's website and Hellwig's website and couldn't find it listed at either. I would call Hellwig's 800 number and see if #7646 was still being made.

Hey Doc,

As you guys have probably seen from the Hellwig site there is no front anti-sway bar for the 00-03 Screws and the rear antisway bar is a measly 1 1/8". Not nearly enough to make me wanna run out and drop cash unless its gonna pay off. Hellwig does have a section were they express an interest in doing custom work for a special project...like resurrecting the #7646 monster--BRING IT ON!

OOOps!

Funny thing, I just assumed that everyone running around, driving a blue oval Screw was in 4x4 mode. The Hellwig monster front antisway bar IS available for 4x2 Screws, item #7646. The only question is how well those sway bars work on a 4x2 when you're up to your axles in mud and the water starts running in the through the bottoms of the doors...that's why we drive 4x4s in the AK... (No offense to the L-boys.)
