Ball joint replacement

Hi all!
This is my first shot at this forum and I am hoping someone can offer me some advice. I am a building contractor and run 2 crews and 2 trucks. My lead carpenters (company) truck is a 91 F-150, 2wd. Took it into a local shop which has done good work for me in the past for an alignment. He informed me that all 4 shocks were shot, (no suprise) and 3 of the 4 ball joints were bad. After getting his estimate I decided to do the job myself. I have done plenty of mechanical work, so the job does'nt scare me, I was just hoping for some pointers from people who have already done this. I poked around the archives and liked one suggestion to freeze the ball joints before pressing them in. (no problem here in Vermont!) One point which confused me in that post was it seemed he said something about rotating them in. Ifigured they would press straight in. Does the lower pan need to be removed from the truck to remove / install the new joint? How about the uppers? My thought is to replace all 4 instead of the 3 he found bad.
I would rather be working on my 57 Power Wagon! (or is it bad to mention other makes around here? )

I take off lower arms and bring 'em to the machine shop. Costs about $18 - no problems.
