Seeing Frame

Thought id post this here, not getting much attention in the supercrew forum...anyways...

Im considering the 3" body lift. My question is if nerf bars/side steps arent mounted could you see the frame of the truck? I dont have those side steps on my truck and my concern is if i get a body lift youll be able to see some of my frame. im curious as to whether or not you can see the frame from the side view, dont want it to look real ugly with a bunch of frame showing.

yes I do believe you will see some of the frame. But it still dont look bad in my opinion.

you can see the yellow sticker on the frame rail behind the front pass door. Or you could always buy some nerf bars!!

That's a great look

Your truck looks exactly how I want mine to look. Same color and everything. I'm having a 3" PA body lift done this week. What are the wheels and tires? They look perfect. Not too big, not too small. I'm going to go with the nerf bars, too. Your truck looks a lot like Wendell's. Both look great.

Why not go with spindles and blocks . The cost is not a a great deal more if you install them yourself . Body lifts are a time consuming project are seeing the frame in my opinion looks really bad . Spindles are not difficult to install , they take alot less time to install than a body lift and the ride quality is the same.

Where can you get the spindles and blocks? Is that the same thing as the suspension lift that fabtech sells for like 1500 bucks. I want to lift my truck but have 1500 bucks to do it, and everyone who sells a suspension lift seems to hover right around that price.

You cannot use spidles on a 4x4. Spindles are for 2wd trucks. Also IF you had a 2xd, spindles alone could give you only a 3.5 inch lift on top of the 2wd(2wd f150's are about 2 inches shorter and 4X4's") Body lifts are simple to install, but are very time consuming and have alot of steps, but if i had a 4x4, i would body lift it in a heart beat. how else could you pay for rims, tires, and a certain type of lift kit to fit 35's for right about 1000? Theres nothing wrong with a bbody lift. If you feel the blocks are gonna fall out, then put some nice bolts through them or glue them wiht some silicone. If you dont wanna drop 13-1900 on a lift and willing to not use your truck for a weekend, a body lift is the way to go 2wd and 4wd.

Could not tell if he had a 2wd or 4wd by his profile but most people will say if their truck is a 4x4 .Since he did not I assumed its a 2wd. As for the cost you can get spindles for $239 plus shipping and blocks for about $40 at your local parts store.

So you can't use the spindles on the 4wd? Do the nerf bars attach to the bottom of the frame? I thought they did, but if that were true wouldn't they be hanging down? I need to see a truck with a body lift in person before I decide if I wanna go that route.

Thanks,
Chris

the nerf bars that are available now bolt up to the body.when it goes up so do the bars. a 3 inch lift is the way to go and i've seen alot of screws with them.

I have a body lift that i just had put on my truck and i love the look...although you do see more frame in my case im willing to have frame show instead of going suspension and having my truck ride like crap! I have a 4x4 so its a bit bigger than stock trucks that have a 3" body...and about the install, it took the shop that did mine 2 full days, which was fine i was gone on vacation. I know they ripped out my backseat and carpet and so on but everything was put back and you would never be able to tell!

I was told that Fords are pain/time consuming to install bodylifts on because they go from the cab and down with all of their bolts for the body...and Chevy goes from under the frame and up...dunno if its true but its what i was told

This is starting to sound like a better alternative then the suspension lift. What about the exhaust? Does that hang down 3" from the body and look bad, or is it not so bad?

Thanks again,
Chris

Here's some pics of mine. Maybe they will help answer some questions.
