Thumbs up

Buckster et al,

I installed the new front and rear Hellwig sway bars yesterday and I am impressed with both. Installed the front first and did a test drive on some freeway transitions and noticed improved stability while on the transitions at a higher speed. The front took less than an hour. The front kit comes with a choice of 6" or 9" end link bolts and neither fits the 2 wheel drive. Called Hellwig and they sent out a shorter link set (spacer is 2 3/4" long).
I then installed the rear bar. Installation time was about 1 1/2 hours once I figured where to install the D-bushing brackets on the axle. The rear kit is designed solely for an F150 without limited slip differential. The instructions show the bracket bushings mounted exactly in front of the axle, inboard of the shock mounts that are welded to the axle. However, the best fit I found was angling the brackets up slightly and outboard of the shock brackets so the hardware and bar clear the LSD outlet and brake tubing and the parking brake line bracket. I did a test drive after installing the rear (front already installed) and there was even more noticeable stability on freeway transistions. The rear bar also eliminated a lot of unsprung weight vibration that's normal in an empty pick-up.
The JCWhitney part numbers and sale price for each are as follows:

Front: Part# 55UT5693A Application# 07-0318R ($109.95)
Rear: Part# 78UT7401P ($119.95)

Hellwig part numbers:
Front: 7646
Rear: 7621
Correct front end link set Hellwig for 2WD: CS757

I think the 7646 bar for the front will fit the 4X4s because of the longer endlink lengths that came in the kit, which did not fit the 2X.

If you have any questions....don't hesitate.

Thumbs up Edelbrock IAS followup.

Still very happy with the shocks. I had a very heavy load of landscape edgers put on by a forklift at the Home Depot (for my house)and Edelbrock shocks really give much beter control and also reduce that heavily loaded wallow over freeway bumps dramatically. I really like the added control of these shocks when unloaded or loaded, all in all very strong.
