Question

Hopefully someone can answer this question for me...Say if someone who didnt have a suspension lift bought a steering stabilizer for their truck, but later added a suspension lift, would they be able to use the same stabilizer, or would they have to purchase another application to work on their lifted truck?

It took about 30 minutes and if you have a couple of adjustable wrenches, you have everything you need!

As for the question about whether a stabilizer would work on both a lifted and an unlifted truck, I guess it would depend on the stabilizer, the truck and the lift system. I can say that the one I installed would work equally well on my truck, lifted or stock. It mounts between the frame rail and the tie rod and I'm sure there's enough play in the rubber bushings to account for any slight geometry changes cause by the lift.

Looks good, Tanman! Noticed you got a different logo than I did... I know about the roads down there. I spent a couple years living over in the Leesville area about 10 years ago myself

Cool

I finally ordered the Heckethorn stabilizer, last Thursday. It arrived today, and took about 50 min. to install. After my test drive, I'm sold. What a difference!

Thanks Jon C for the info and pics. Tanman, thanks for the pics. Mine looks just like yours.

I have learned one thing... and that is don't beleive in everything you read in a off-road mag. I once read that if you need a steering stabilizer than you need to be checking out your front end for worn out suspension and steering parts. What a load of crap. Speaking from personel expereince, I have helped put on a single and dual setup on a old model Chevy with 38's and what a difference. It helped a lot with just the single then my bud moved up to the dual and it was like driving a car, smooth as all get out.

It's definately not stiffer. It makes the steering wheel feel "looser". Not loose like all over the road, but loose like you don't feel the bumps in the steering wheel anymore.
