Cool Just so ya know (Fabtech)

Ok guys and gals, The Fabtech spindles and 2 inch blocks have been on for two weeks now. I have had a few conditions that required attention, and thought I would pass it on.

Track width: In case ya didnt know, the new style Fabtech spindles are different from the older ones. My track width from the outside of the tires in the front is now 81 inches, (with stock rims). The unmodified rear is 77 inches. A difference in front to back of 4 inches is alot. Im not sure what the front was before the lift, but I'm sure it must have been close to the rear. The 3.5 inch lift I gained on the day of the install is still here. I suppose I will have to add some sorta spacers and longer wheel studs to the rear to make it look right. Anyone have any sources for quality spacers and studs?

Snap, crackle pop:

Since the install there has been a pop and tink from under the truck when it goes up or down in a tight turn, driveways and drive throughs, stuff like that. I was thinking the new spindles trashed my ball joints or something, the metalic click, pop and tink was very nerve wracking. Well rest easy, the cure was a dab of grease on the spindle to lower control arm turn stops. Just dip a lil grease on that metal nub that is attached to the back of the lower control arm and she will make those tight steering feats with ease again.

Oh well, just thought I would pass the poop.

Question

Hey, did you do the lift yourself? If so, how hard was it and how long did it take you? I am intrested in either the spindles or the 3.5 coil/control arm lift. And how much did you pay for the kit?

Thanks

The kit was 450 from RV Performance. Yes I did the install myself. I was not expecting the 3.5 inch increase in track width. It only took a couple hours for the front, but the rear took longer because the pins in the blocks were too small and I had to have a machine shop fix them for 20 bucks.

The spindles did lift and seperate (like a wonder bra). 3.5" up and 3.5" out.

Kial,

The Fabtech spindles and blocks and U-bolts was 450, delivered. Camburg couldn't touch that. I do like the upper control arms and Eibach coils that Camburg offers, and may purchase them in the future. I am begining to like the wide and tall stance that the wonder bra spindles has on my truck. It also seems to remain more flat in the turns now.

Now if I can just get the rear to match....

I have the ProComp spindles & they moved the wheels out 1" per side. I think most trucks & SUV's come from the factory with a wider track width in the front vs the rear. You don't want to use spacers with hub centric wheels. You'll make them lug centric & will have vibration problems.

I also installed Fabtech 3 1/2 lift kit.I also had a cracking and thunk sound. Found that rearend need to be align with the drive line. added 3 degree shim below 3" block at the rearend to get the right degree of angle to match the driveline using degree indicater which you can buy for few bucks at any auto store or you can use digital protractor to be more precise.

I hope this info helps

Cool

I know this is an old topic but I figured I'd bring it back to life because I think Fabtech Spindles and 2" blocks is a great deal. Where is this RV Performance? Do they have a website? Thanks.
