Cool Rancho steering stabilizer installed...

Ever since I put the Lightning wheels and bigger tires on my 'Screw, it has "bump steered" when crossing the "grooves" in smaller, local roads.

I installed a Rancho steering stabilizer and I can honestly say I should have done it the day I put the new wheels on.

Installation was extremely simple and only took 30 minutes total. Completely cured the "bump steer" (sorry for the lack of a better description).

$79 from Summit Racing. (Got the free ground shipping to boot!)

Just thought I'd share, seeing as it works so well.

I did mine a month or more ago. I couldn't believe the difference, just in daily stop and go driving?? They should come with them from the factory, IMHO....,,,,98

Cool

98 -

You are what got me looking at the whole scenario. It never dawned on me that anyone manufactured street truck steering stabilizers until I read your post.

I always assumed they were made just for 4x4s.

Thanks for the tip. You're right, they really do improve daily driving.

I guess if Ford put all the stuff on these trucks we think they should, they'd cost $50,000 and we wouldn't have any weekend projects...

Thumbs up

I can't take full credit for it either, hehe. Actually a guy who worked in a independent suspension shop in OKC recommended one to me. I told him it had always felt a little loose since I put the 275/60's on, and he proceeded to poke and prod and pry on the front end parts. He couldn't find anything that was bad, so he told me a steering stabilizer would help possibly. I never knew they made them for 2wd's until then.,,,,98

Do we have pictures?

Would this be overkill for a stock SCrew with 265/75/17 tires?

B Man,

Thank you sir. Now one more question. Is your rig a 4x4? Mine is and I want to make sure its the correct part number before ordering.

Thanks again!

Cool

Mine is a 4x2. According to the Rancho application guide, for 97- 03 F150's, the same part numbers are used on 4x4's as what I bought for mine.

Here's what it looks like, on the truck:

For anyone interested, you can also see my aux tranny filter and the under-drive ASP pulleys...
