Post technical 3/5 drop questions...

well, my sig is what i have and i want to drop it... and i think i've decided to go with the 3/5 drop. now my questions...

I want the 3/5 but i want it done right (no shackles!), so whats the best way to go?? I want a suspension drop so no air baggers and i also want an excellent suspension for cornering(as i love to street race)

any ideas, i was thinking of buying all seperate parts and having them installed so lay down the good products for a good drop and excellent suspension.

any help is appreciated...

after some looking i've decided on:

front- Western Chassis 2" super a-arms and 1" smooth-ride drop coil

that leaves me the 3" in the front. anything else i need for the front????!

now the rear...

I too am looking to drop my ride 3/4 or 3/5 and want great handling too. After much searching I think I'm going to piece together my own kit. I thinking of getting Western Chassis A arms and Eibach coils up front. Out back I'm planning on getting Hotchkis' new 4in drop leafs (I contacted them they will have their F-150 2-4 kit out in May) and maybe 1in hanger if I want it lower. I too want to avoid the shackles after hearing I need to grind and air chisel the rivets off , plus I don't think the factory leafs are the best if you want great handling!

Cool

I have the western chassis 3/5 drop on my truck. The rivets, buy the way are on the front hangers, not the shackles. Leafs and 1" shackles would be the best way to do a 5" drop in the rear. It could also be done with the Western Chassis shackles and hangers (the only shakle/hanger kit that is adjustable for 4 - 5 inches) or, you could use an axle flip kit (6 inches) and a 1" raising shackle.

I've had my kit for over a year now with no problems. I will bottom out if I hit a really heavy bump at a relatively high rate of speed, but I very seldom have this happen. A c-notch kit will prevent this and I may even install one some day.

thanks for the info Chris, but is there any other way for a 5" drop done right (full suspension items) without shackles or do i need to have some type of shackle? Is there shackles on the truck stock??? if so... at what length because i don't want to extend any farther than stock lenght.

can't forget front and rear anti-sway bars i'm making my list and checkin it twice, and saving the cash as much as possible!

Are you able to post any pix of your truck, Chris? I'm saving my hard-earned pennies for a 3/5 Western Chassis drop as well.
Also, what size wheels and tires do you have?

I was browsing thorugh my Sport Truck mag collection and in the Jan 2000 issue there is a 98 F-150 with a Chisolm 3/5 drop. It consists of 3" A-arms and 5" leafs. Well anyways I called them, and the leafs are around $350 and come with an extra leaf for more support. Their number is 800-848-2333
