Steering Stabilizer/Bump-Stop/Shocks Questions
Ok, first off...I am looking for 2 new shocks for the rear and really like the idea of the RS9000 remote control system. Problem is, a year ago when i was involved in a collision, insurance bought me 2 new shocks for the front and they are not near worn out yet. I am wanting the remote system because i load the bed with up to and over 500 lbs sometimes and the ride is obviously affected. I wanted to know if this system will help the truck sit more level if i adjust the shocks to their stiffer settings when loaded down. However, what my biggest question is: Can i buy the remote system to work only on the back (is that an option because i really only need to adjust the back) or must i go with the entire 4 shock control kit. If i must go with the 4 shocks, is there anyway i can just not hook up the front two right now? And is there a cost difference?
My second question is steering stabilizers. Like i said, i have 35s and that effects steering some to. I am looking for a cheap but reliable steering stabilizer. I'm a fair mechanic so if the instructions are good, i can do the install myself. What do yall recommend?
Last questions is: if you have lowered your bump-stop(by that i mean, making them longer), how did you do it...with the new setup, my tires hit my body b4 they hit my bumpstops, and i would like to keep my truck from destroying itself...thanks again yall for your help.

Red... I just bought and installed the stabilizer kit made by Heckethorn. Installs easily and helps smooth out bump steer significantly. For $59 delivered in 2 days, I'd recommend it! I had spoken with Rancho also but they couldn't tell me if their kit would work with my truck and Fabtech lift, so I opted for Heckethorn. The stabilizer is a heavy duty, big-bore unit and comes with all mounting hardware and a rubber boot, color of your choice (Shock is white)
I answered a question earlier about installation for ilmagill in another topic, so maybe I'll get the digital camera out and snap a couple pics later on today. Looks good!
Hope this helps!

PS... glad to hear you got your tweaked axle fixed!

Hi..just thought i'd comment on your concern about levelling your truck when loaded. I have the same problem but unfortunately, putting adjustable shocks will not cure your quest to level your rear end when loaded. Although selecting a stiffer setting when fully ladden would help control excessive bounce, your truck would still end up with a rear end sag. Have you considered air bags? Hope this helps.....
What if you found the rear-air bag system that they put on the 97-99 LD F-250's? I know it works on mine... Go to a scrap yard or something and find some. Other than that, I agree with busejag, they wont do much other than to empty your pocket book.

ok the RS9000 wont help u level the truck when loaded. it just controls the stiffness of the shocks. if u want so adjust the level either get some air shocks or air bags.
i install a Rancho steering stablizer on my friends f150 super crew and it was pretty easy to install. good instructions and all.
for ur last question i believe ur talking about the rear tires rubbing on the fenders.
we had the same problem with my friends supercrew. we put on 33x12.5 super swamper ssr's with only cranking the T-bar. what we did was go down to a metal shop and got some i believe 2"x2" square tubing. we cut them to size, drlled holes and bolted them between the frame and the factory bump stops.
for the front we didnt have any problems rubbing.
