Lightning steering box
I had to have my Lightning's steering gear box replaced. My dealership could not find a part number for a lightning specific box so they used a regular F150 unit. Is this right. I doesn't feel like it drives the same. Any one have any idea what the REAL part number is? I already tried to get the number off the core, but it was conveviently missing.

HI!... WANT2RACE : There is NO difference between the LIGHTNING's steering box and the regular F-150's one. Remember the LIGHTNING is made from a stock F-150. FORD just raids their parts bin and threw the LIGHTNING together. The only things that they made custom for the LIGHTNING were certain parts of the interior, ground effects, lower compresion pistons, intercooler, and the rims. Everything else is off of other FORD related vehicles. REAR SWAY BAR/9.75 REAR END : NAVIGATOR/EXPEDITION. 4R100 tranny : DEISEL internals in gas case. SUPERCHARGER : Same as used on JAGUAR (owned by FORD's)ETC. There are so many parts from FORD's parts bin used on the LIGHTNING that there too many to list here. Just remember that they started from a regular F-150 and turned IT into a lightning. So your steering gear box will be O.K because it's the same.
