Unhappy Bouncy ride

Ok I am new to this, but I have a question. I have a 1998 XL model, reg cab, V6 4.2,5 speed. I started experiencing some bouncing in the rear of my truck, smetimes I would feel it in the front. I bought new tires, got an alignment, and still expereinced the bouncing, just watching my gear shift shaking back and forth. I have done everything to try and stop the bouncing. But no matter what I do, it just never stops. Someone told me it is because of the F150 suspension. Well I admit I am female and don't know alot about working on a truck. Has anyone experienced the same problem and if so, how can I try and stop this? Thanks!

hey FORDTOUGH44,
Your problem could be very easy or very hard to fix. The first thing that I would try is to put some weight in the back of your truck. In most cases, this keeps the back of the truck from bouncing around. The trucks were made for hauling, so the suspension is very stiff. Through some sand bags/cinder blocks or what ever you have back there and see if that helps. You might also want to replace your shocks. I don't know how many miles you have on your truck, but it might be time to change them up. Look for other posts on what kind of shocks people reccomend for a soft ride. Good Luck and I hope you figure it out!

Hey thanks for the reply........I will try that. And as a matter of fact I am about to change the shocks next. Is Gabriel the best kind or something better out there? I work for an auto parts distribution center, and that is what we sell. I will get them changed and see how that helps.

Well I am not sure what is the "best shock" out there, but gabriel and monroe in my opinion have a soft ride. You might want to go that way. If you do any off-roading or towing, you might wnat to go for a performance shock like rancho or edelbrock. It really all depends on your price range. But if you have the hook up's to cheap prices on gabriel, try those out. It couldn't hurt! Let us know what you find out.

I am recently having a similar problem. It has not happened until about the past month or so. When I go over a bump or dip, it feels, and sounds, like something in the bed bounces, but I don't carry anything in the bed. I have brand new shocks. It's almost like a double bump. The first bump is the tires hitting the bump and then a split second later there is a second bump, like something is loose in or under the bed.
Any ideas?
