Rear End Bouncing
My 98 had the leaf springs coming out of alignment. You know what I did to fix the problem.I traded it off on a new one.Seriously though the mis aligned leaf springs are a safety issue. There is a website that you can go to(of course I can't remember it) that will tell you if its under a recall or not.BTW our leaf springs are made in mexico so poor quality doesn't suprise me.

Does anyone here have the damping bar or the velvet ride shackles on their truck? I called a couple of ford dealers with the part# for the damper bar, they said they can order it, cost about $30.00 but the service techs I talked to have not installed or had any information on these bars.I'll call a few more places this week, one of the ford places should have an answer.

I took the truck in yesterday to schedule some work including adding the dampening bar, but they said since there is no SSM addressing this part they could not order it under warranty until they had a chance to look at the truck. If it's only $30 maybe I'll do it myself. I'll keep everyone posted after I take the truck in next week to see if they'll cover it. 16K miles on the truck.

I have the same problem with my SC with Long Bed. I have read other threads at this site that said the solution was the bar added to the rear of the vehicle. If I remember correctly, it ways 100 pounds and is mounted on rubber boots to help smooth out the bounce. I rarely drive on roads that cause this problem, so I have been delaying adding this extra weight to my truck. I think I will just upgrade my shocks when I have a chance. I hear that the new Edlebrock IAS shocks also eliminate the bounce.

After a 2 month backorder, my "spring pack" arrived at the dealer on Aug. 25th. I dropped off my truck this past Monday for installation of rear springs. Well, after 4 days in the shop, I am disappointed because the spring pack was one leaf spring for the left side to correct left side truck lean. After arriving home this past Thursday, I measured my truck on a level surface and I still have 3/4" lean to the left and the 40mph vibration.
With this in mind, I want to know if anyone has a solution for the doityourselfer. Can I "adjust" the springs for height level?...install shims?...install coil spring spacers?
Also, please post the best shock to use for wheel hop.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jeff

OE812 I also have a 3/4" lean to the left & also had my lefy spring replaced & still have the lean going on. I am going to make some lift blocks & pins for placement under the factory blocks & buy longer U-bolts. I am going to make the left side block 1&1/2" and the right side 3/4". This will match the lift I achieved on the front by crankin' up the torsion bars.

Hey guys,
My truck leans to the left also, but mine has a leafspring sage. It mea 7.5" on the right and 6.0" on the left from tire to flare. I allready thought about the full fuel tank so ran it empty and its the same. I only have 3 leafs in my springs so I ordered springs for a 2001 f150 (4 leaf) I'll get them next week and put them on and hope it will fix the problem. I'll let you know.

KABF150!:
You are going to make some blocks? Out of what? Let me know. I will do the same. I am tired of down-time at the dealership. They haven't fixed the lean and I'm sure I can do better. Show pictures of fix if you can.
Thanks,
Jeff

The Dampening Bar sounds like the way to go for wheel hop.
Although the bags of sand gave me a groovy idea.
Why not make a custom Dampening Bar yourself that weighs possibly more than the 100lbs. ford one. If 200lbs. of sand feels great back there... Hmmmm. For that matter you could bolt on lead right to the under side of your truck bed.
Well, I am a bit lazy sometimes. So maybe sand in the back would be easiest.
Hmmm. or $30 for the bar and mounts and figure out a way to add the extra weight.

I'm going to a second dealer service department on Thursday. Hopefully I'll have better luck convincing this one. In the mean time, keep your babes rear end bouncing!
I'll post results of my dealer visit.

2nd dealer will replace both front coil springs. Rep. stated that other dealership should have replaced coils FIRST then leaf spring. It will be 5-7days before coils arrive. I'll post results...
