Hey JDm-
The standard reply to that question is usually, "go with the spindle lift b/c it will not change your stock suspension and ride." Or something like that. It's not too hard to do, I just completed mine a couple weeks ago.

I notice you are from Austin. Go check out the events and happenings section. The Texas(and surrounding states) members are having a rally next weekend in SA. We would like to have you there! All the info is under E&H.

Everyone is staying at a hotel in northwest San Antonio called the Suburban Lodge.

We are all coming in on Friday night. I think we are going to take a hill country drive on Sat.

There are bunch of people getting together in Austin before they go onto SA. Look for the "Austin to SA" thread under events and happenings. Look for anything that has to do with SA Rally, April 14-16. E&H is toward the bottom of the message board list.

Hope to see you there! You will get to see a lot of trucks, some that have the spindle lift.

JDm,
The spindle lift is nice because not only does it not addect the ride but it also adds ground clearence beneath your a-arms. The the body lift won't give you any ground clearencebut only clearence between the tires and wheel wells. If you really want performance off-road, just go all out and buy the Fabtech lift. Also look into Camburg Engineering. They are in the same area as fabtech, and I've heard do some pretty good work. Compare prices for the best deal and options. Just my .02

Bones... You say the body lift won't give any extra ground clearance. But the bigger tires will give you more ground clearence right? So, indirectly, the body lift will give a little more ground clearance.

The lowest point on the 2WD trucks is the rear differential, and no lift changes that position, so in reality, the only way to gain any clearance at all is to increase the diameter of the tires.

But a suspension lift will increase your frame (chasis)to ground clearance so as not to get high centered and all that. All that a body lift will do is give body - ground clear which will steal leave the frame to get caught.

Hey Guys,

I was wondering where did most of you get the hardware, such as the fabtech stuff, spindles, and what was the cost. I have been deciding later on down the road I would like to lift my truck. It seems everywhere I look including the 4x4 mags, they have nothing for the 2wd 97+ F150 (excluding body lift).
Thanks for any input.

Almost all the magazines have the Fabtech kit in them now listed along side the 4x4 kits..Try your local lift shops..4x2 lifts getting very popular....think paid 1300 for install and kit...Dave
