Question Lowering my truck

Hey folks. I have a black 97 F150 that am thinking about lowering 2/4". Does anyone have any pics of this - maybe before and after? Also would appreciate any opinions on kits (front springs vs. control arms) and drop shackles. From this forum it appears that the drop shackles are the easiest on the rear (don't have to grind rivets, I think - I'll look tonight). The control arms might be more than I want to attempt but I'd like everyone's opinions. I've read posts where some people went one way and found the ride didn't feel good so I'd like to do it once and do it right. Thanks.

Wink

Call me crazy, but I've dropped a 68 Mustang, 93 Ranger, 87 CRX, 91 S10 Blazer and most recently my F150 w/basic hand tools. Now, I am not saying that this has not (at times) been a major pain in the rear...my only point is that it is do-able with patience, clear thinking and advice when needed.

The only power tool I've really needed was my grinder, for cutting coils. This weekend I will use it to grind some rivets and get the rear of my 01 V6 down 4"...cuz 2" just ain't enough!

I'd say do springs in the front and shackles in the back. Do the shackles first and soak any bolts you need to loosen w/ WD-40 or liquid wrench for a day or two first.

Thumbs up

No problem...forgot to mention that there are several ways to drop 4" in the back, the simplest by means of replacing the leaf springs. Yet it seems all the lowering leaf springs that may get you 4" of drop will decrease your payload capacity, Belltech and Aim come to mind.

Keep reading and writing and others will give their 2 cents. I'll post the results of my grinding endeavor on Monday!

How will the ride be effected if I went with 2" drop coil springs in the front and drop shackles in the rear? I've seen a number of kits but have not heard anyone say how it rides.
