svtaudio,

Are you looking for function or aesthetics? 9-10" is a huge lift.

this is a picture out of the owner's gallery. it say he has 10" of lift with 39/15/16 mickeys, but there is no mention of what brand of lift it is. might want to try contacting him (offer him a shirt while you're at it).

I dont think you will find a 9-10" lift for any IFS front end. I think Superlift makes a 5.5" suspension lift, along with a 3" body lift, you will be close to what you want.
If you are looking for 9-10" of suspension lift you will need to swap in a solid front axle.
Good luck, and please post some pics after its done.

Yep, svtaudio, the most lift one can get on the market right not for '97-newer F-150 4x4's is the 5" Superlift suspension lift, and the 3" body lift. The 5" Superlift kit says 4-5" lift because it does involve cranking up your torsion bar. Hell, I have seen a '98 F-150 4x4 with a 3" body, 4" Trailmaster suspension lift and the 38x14.50R16.5 Super Swamper SX's. It looked really good. As for the pic in the picture gallery, J_Rock, I was wondering where they had gotten the 10" of lift too. Had me dumbfounded.

I'll tell you how to get a 9" lift. I have one on a '97.

Take any 4" suspension. I have Rancho.
Add a 3" body lift.

Now the tricky part. Take torsion bars off a Chevy 1-ton and crank em up 2" for a grand total of 9".

I can clear 39x15 Mickey's easily...I have that maroon truck by an inch or so.

Good luck.

I am guessing that if the pic that is shown does have 10" of total lift, it must be a custom made body lift, and 4" to 5" suspension lift installed on it. Too bad that there isn't a side shot of the truck with light coming in from behind and then you could see approx. body lift there is. Also look at the fenders, they look like they have been cut to make room for the 39" tires. Just my two cents....

That truck is nice and all, but I do believe that on these newer trucks you can go TOO BIG. I believe a 4" Suspension lift, and a 3" body lift is perfect. Looks at Squantos, or Ford mans. They are both black 4x4's, with that setup. I think 38's are plenty big.

Could it be that he's including the extra height of the tires in the 10 inches? That would be what, about 3"? So that would leave the 4" suspension and the 3" body, for a 10" total, right?

I have been wondering the same question for some time now. After just reading about someone saying a larger body lift. I was looking at the picture closely. I have a bodylift on mine now. But if you look at the distance between the torsion bars and the body, there seems to be a greater distance, than with a 3". Also look at the placement of the side step bar. It is low, but solidly on the frame. So I am guess ising it is atleast a 4" body, and probably a 5 inch lift. and A wouldn't doubt if the owner exaggerated a little on the total.

Cool

About the maroon f-150 running the 39x15 Mickeys. I've been wondering for some time now (thats why I went back and revived this post) how he's getting 10" of lift.
First, in this months Offroad Magazine, they have a '97 F-150 4x4 that has a custom made 4" body lift and then the 5" Superlift suspension lift on it running the regular 39x15R16.5 Super Swamper TSL's. As for the custom made body lift, I don't think I'd have enough money to pay for one to be fabricated and I sure as hell don't have the expertise and know how to make one myself.....So...(I also already have a 3" body lift on my truck and there is also no way in hell that I'm going to take that off) now, getting back to Superlifts web site, www.superlift.com, they have listed under the 97+ F-150's that you do crank up your torsion bars and that they recommend getting a higher rated torsion bar either from them or from Ford. In doing that, I believe that anyone could get at least 2" with a higher rated torsion bar and have a half decent ride. (Besides, if one wants to run 38 or 39" tires, I don't think they expect the ride of a Cadillac anyways) Now where could one get one of these heavier duty torsion bars and what would they cost for the parts and labor? Would the F-250 light dutys have heavier duty torsion bars that could be put on an F-150? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry for rambling on, but I had a lot to say....lol
