look-a-like 4x4
Hi I was woundering how i could make my f150 4x2 look like the stock 4x4. I know that a spindle lift is an option but does it look bad without a rear block. I i think i might want to go higher than the stock 4x4 but am conserned that my truck will be unstable on the road. is there a way that I can lifts my truck and make it stable at the same time. the tires ii like are the 33x11.50x16 thornbirds can they fit on stock rims or do I need new ones.

Why wouldn't you put in the rear blocks with the spindle lift? That doesn't make any sense. I went a week w/o a rear lift after I completed the front spindles and it felt kind of weird! It's a lot better now that I have the rear level.
Don't worry about unstableness! The ride is fine. As for the tires, I don't think the 11.5s will fit on the stock wheel but I'm no tire expert. I'm about to find out if the 285s will fit on mine.
As for the gear change with bigger tires, it's not necessary even with the 4.2. I was with ccla last weekend and he didn't have any problem keeping up with the V8s and he has a 4.2 with 35s. John, correct me if I'm wrong!
Nice truck JDm.

how much rear lift did you put on, is an add a leaf big enough. I know that my truck rides 21/2inches lower in the front now so if i get 3 inches in front and 1 inch in the rear will it be level. If I get new rims can I fit the 33x11.50's on a 16x8 in rim. have you noticed that you feel more unstable in tight turns. if so how can I make it more stable. Is it wourth getting a new sway-a-way bar in the front.
thanks for the Help

JDm-
I put an add-a-leaf in the rear and that leveled it out with the front. I haven't felt the slightest bit of change in my ride, including stability.
After the spindles, you will be able to fit your new rims and 33s.
Franks&beans gave some good suggestions too.

Say I was to get the spindle lift and a 3inch body lift could i run 33x15x16. I kow that you can fit 35's with that lift but i would rather have 33's that are 15 inches wide.

35's WILL NOT fit under a 2wd with spindles and a body lift. I thought they would but we ended up adding a 1" Coil spacer in the front a total of 3" of blocks in the rear and had to do some trimming inside the front fender well behind the black wheel liners.

JDm,
If you are worried about stability w/ your truck, consider installing the Hellwig rear anti sway bar. I can guarantee it will reduce any instability in terms of body roll. If you also want to improve the ride, install the Edelbrock shocks.
There is no need to replace the OEM front sway bar. Some list members have replaced the OEM rubber bushings for the polyurethane enegry suspension ones, and said that improves the handling. I am will be installing the energy suspension bushing soon.
BTW Summitt Racing, and JC Whitney sells the Hellwig sway bar

hey guys, i'm still trying to decide if i want to lift my truck or just get some 285/60/18's. the main thing that is keeping me from lifting it is i just don't think the 4.2L has enough power. JDm have you considered this? i know CCLA has a manual tranny and is planning on doing a gear swap, but unfortanely i don't and won't have either. also, do y'all think the 285/60/18's would look stupid with the spindle lift? thanks in adavance for any opinions or suggestions.
