Question 3" or 4" Suspension Lift Recommendations?

Well, the tax man was kind to me this year and I get some dough back for a change. Before my ex-wife's attorney finds out about this, I'd like some recommendations on a suspension lift kit. I'd prefer a suspension lift rather than a body lift and I really don't want to go any higher than 4". I looked at a Rancho kit this weekend and liked it, but I'd like to hear what other guys are using and how you like it. TIA.

Reavis Ive done alot of checking into on lifts for the late model fords (I have a 1999)the best one in my opinion is pro comps there was a article in in one of the four wheel drive magazines on installing the lift.On the pro comp the one piece steering knuckle relocates the tie rods up so that you dont have to install the drop link that the other kits have. Also with the pro comp kit you dont have to cut the front mount for the front axle housing off the frame it actually uses the mount for support.Youll have to call for avalibility as last summer I called for my truck and they said that the 99 was different than preavious models and they didnt have one for my truck. So I built my own it uses a spacer block like trailmasters for the knuckle Ive had no problems with this setup but it requires the droped center link.I believe the pro comp sells for a little over 1600.00 its definatly not the cheapest but would be the easiest to return back to stock.

I also have reserched this pretty good, and for my 2000 f-150 Iam going with rancho,I have had rancho lifts in the past and have always had great luck..you can call rancho and talk to one of there tech's they are very helpful, and if you are going to install it yourself the tech line is open on saturday to help you if you run in to a problem.I cant speak about procomp butI do know unlike others rancho wont put out a kit inless all the bugs have been worked out...hope this helps

You also need to consider what size tire you want to run after the lift is installed.Rancho only recommends a 33" tire with their 4" lift, while most others(Superlift,Trailmaster etc.)will all take a 35" tire.
Hope this helps

Reavis, You can't go wrong with any of the "BIG" four (Rancho, Trailmaster, Superlift and ProComp) All make nice kits. I went with Trailmaster just becuase I have used there products before and have been very happy with them.

Good Luck !

Reavis,

Try and give Fly-N-Hi, over in Mesa on country club/North of I-60. A while back they had a good price for the TrailMaster lift.
Definitely, don't go to **** Cepek-too damn expensive & Off-road Unlimited-is on the high $$$ too & the one guy I dealt with was 1 quart short!
Desert Rat-the guys over there are cool & not bad, but all they carry I think is just Rancho. Oh wait I take that back!! The guy that did my tires F@*k up one of my stock tires when he took it off. He ripped off a good portion of the inside diameter/bead-needless to say the tire couldn't be reused!! I'm glad that he didn't screw up my Super Swampers!!!

XVR4667-

Thanks for the input. I was over at Fly-N-Hi and Off-Road Unl. last weekend, and I'll try Desert Rat this weekend. Like I said, all I've looked is Rancho so far but I want to see the TrailMaster outfit too.

As near as I can figure, there are about 5 'Zonies here, that post at least, we should try a AZ meet sometime, huh? Take care...

Your truck is bad! Just wondering, how mych stiffer does it ride now...what kind of shocks do I need to keep a soft ride with a lift? Hope this isn't a stupid question, pretty new to the science of lifting these puppies
