Question I want 33" Tires. What do I need to clear them?

I have a 2000 V6 4.2L 5spd SuperCab truck. Since it's not a 4x, I don't need all the fancy stuff (for off-road use). I just want whatever is needed to clear the tires and keep the smoothest ride possible. I went to 4WheelParts and they went crazy telling me what to add which came out to $3400!!!

I was thinking a 3" Body Lift. Do I need a suspension lift too?

Thanks!

Hey I have 285's on my truck with 3" bullseye spindles. The tire fit well and it looks real good. The spindles only cost like 550 and install you can spend anywhere from 150 to 350. You don't need to change anything else and it keeps the same factory ride. Although the bigger tires will change the ride a bit. My do but they are the BFG's that have a 3 ply sidewall instead of 2 ply which makes them a little stiffer but stronger. Just my suggestion take it as you want it. P.S. someone posted pics of my truck in another post. I think "2wd body lift and spindles" take a look.

I have posted this before, and I will do it again... I have a 4x2 supercab flareside w- 285-75-16 tires on 16x8 epic lakota wheels. there isn't a single suspension mod on my truck, not ever shocks. This size will fit and not rub anywhere, even lock to lock turns.
Good Luck

I've seen guys post who have 305's on their truck with no mods. From what I understand that size is very close to the 33.

Remember everyone that F150Y2K's truck is a stock 2 wheel drive not a 4x. The biggest tires I have seen in person on a 2wd is 265/75/16. Mind you that is what I have seen. Someone else on here has stated that he has 285/75/16 on his 2wd at stock height. I have the same tires on my truck (the 285's) with the 3" spindle lift and they rub on turns into sharp inclines.

TJohnston,
Are you sure that is 285/75/16 and not something like 285/55/16 or something like that? I notices in your sig that you had nitrous too so I thought it might be more of a street truck instead of a 4x look alike.

Question

TJohnston,

Could you post a pic of your truck, I'd really like to see how those tires look on your truck. I'm just havin a hard time seein how they'd fit with no problems, cause 285's rub on some stock 4x4's. I'm just confused I guess, I'd really like to see it.

I got a 3in body lift and cleared 285/75 fine. I haven't had them rub yet. Tires, balancing, body lift, and bumper brackets was 1100 from off road warehouse, thats out the door. The tires/balance were 680 there which is the same as discount tire co. and some other local shops near me.

ilmagill, it sounds like you have the truck I'm trying to make mine into. How does it do offroad, if that is what you use it for? Do you have LS. I have the 3.55 gears with the V6 and extended cab '99 just like you.

Hey Cr1028,

I live in Dallas area and if you ever want to get together to see what my truck looks like with the 3" spindle lift and 33" tires let me know. I think you would be pleased of how it looks. Looks a little higher than some 4x's.
