I'm interested in doing the same thing to my 99. From what I've read, lowering shackles can be purchased for around $50 to drop the rear 2".

Check for details in the suspension area.

I think you can also get Edelbrock shocks set up for a 2" drop. Dropping the rear 2" should level it out just right. If I didn't occasionally haul heavy stuff, I would want to do the same. If you do the rear drop, let us know if it handles even better (these trucks corner pretty good from the factory, but there is always room for improvement).

Cool

i installed 2" lowering shackles and i really like the way the truck handles and looks. It is cheap and fast. I did it myself in about 1 hour. Shackles were about $50.00.

Question

Doesnt Edlebrock also make performance springs? and if so would the springs need to be put on the front and the rear (also wouldn't that be better than just going w/the shackles)? What size are your wheels/tires? How do you think 18x9's in the rear and 18x8.5's in the front would look? I'm assuming the wheels will help of course when the superching and 4.10 gears go in =) Thanks for the input!

I'm planning on 2" drop shackles soon. Can you give me a simple step-by-step procedure for doing it yourself? Did you need any special tools or equipment? Where did you buy the shackles from?

Hey all...I did the shackles, hangers in the rear and coils up front. Now I'm going to do a 'C' notch and flip kit. BUT>>>>I need to put the stock hangers and shackles back on to do that...Yikes, I threw aways the original stock ones...anyone have em laying around PLEASE let me know.

In November I hauled a 12' long U-Haul PACKED FULL and the bed was packed full too...the whole load was 10,040 pounds, rode very SWEEEETTTT! No bottoming out or anything, ran very smooth. By lowering with JUST shackles or shackles/hangers you will still retain the stock hauling capacity. You haven't done anything to the springs but move them up a little...you still have the same geometery.

How hard is it to remove the stock hangers? Ive heard anything from easy to major headaches. Im planning on doing this but i really dont want to get started and have to tow the truck somewhere and have them removed because i cant get them off. I do have access to air tools if an air chisel will work.

Thanks

Brew an air chiesel is a must...it's the best tool for the job. Drill out the rivets first. Little, then increasing in size but do not surpass the size of the rivet...you sure dont want the hole bigger than original. and be very careful, dont want to hear you were buried with your truck.
