front end clunk -- broken shocks !

front end clunk -- broken shocks !
Hi all.
Several weeks ago I noticed a clunk in my front end at various speeds.
I finally asked my dealer to check it out. They reported that my shocks were broken, and were replacing them for me. WHAT?!!?
I hadn't ever taken my rig off-road yet!
Well, I'm just wondering if anybody else has seen this problem before. Also, I swear that i heard the same clunk the other day even after they replaced the shocks. Perhaps these new shocks are broken again somehow (still havn't taken her off-road, and she only has 4,000 miles), or maybe they inadvertantly halfway fixed the original problem by replacing the shocks (maybe something was previously loose).
Also, on the frontpage of this website (f150online), there is a recall/tech paper thingee. In there, I discovered something about clunck sounds, but I couldn't figure out where to get the entire tech paper (all they show is a summary.) Anybody know where to get the full paper?
Anybody have any input on this whole shock / clunk thing?? I can't believe they already 'broke'.

I forgot what my signature says, so here's some details on my truck: 99F150XLT, 4X4, 4x4 package (i think), 5.4L, (aftermarket leather soon!), no door cracks yet :Þ
