It is possible. You can buy the kit from your local ford dealer.. It consists of the 2 lights and brackets and a new headlamp switch. The wires are already there

Hate to bring this back up but I ran across my origional glossy add book for the 97's. Wanted to clear up one point. Zeke was on top of it already. The LS rear end was not part of the Off Road Package. So our old pall Rusts was WRONG! Ha Ha Ha. Made my day.

For "99 at least, if I'm correct, ORP included 3.73 rear end to the exclusion of all others and LS was available as an option only. And I think fog lights were a part of the XLT package with 4X4. I don't know if I've seen any '99s around without fog lights, maybe they figured out how to make the ones without not look so stupid. ORP was a no-brainer here (I'm Minnesota as well). Ford had a "regional" discount available that made the package net out at only about $250. The tire/wheel upgrade alone was well worth the extra $$$, at least to me. I think the ORP at full price is highway robbery. My two cents.

Dirlton,

That certainly sounds correct as I look at my Monroney label. Mine has the 17" wheels, skid plates, hd shocks, stickers, 3.73 rear end listed. The limited slip is shown as an additional cost, meaning it was not included in the ORP package.

I think '99 was it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the '00's are back to 3.55 period. The 17" chrome wheels only lasted one model year ORP-wise as well. A '99 XLT SC 4X4 with ORP in dark torreador is destined to be a collector's item (or an abberation). Decide for yourself whether you want to eat your heart out.

In 97 the 3.55 (non ls) was standard for the ORP as well as the Lariat. I don't know when they went to 3.73 as standard ORP. Obviously by 99 but wonder if they did it or not in 98?

Yea, I believe you are right on the chrome wheel thing. It was (IMHO) the nicest one they ever had in a 17" wheel. I never liked the 97 & 98 17" one myself. Seems to be a lot of them for sale now as well. I wonder how rare a lariat- ORP in 99 was? Might rival your 99 XLT ORP huh?
