Using a torch is not advisable. It might be quicker but it's also more dangerous, especially in the hands of some of us novices. You should either grind them off, chisel them off, or nothc them and then chisel them off and punch them out by hand or I prefer to punch them out with an air chisel and punch, but I would never torch them or allow anybody to torch mine.
