3" Springs Lowered My Truck 2" ??!!
3" Springs Lowered My Truck 2" ??!!
I ordered 3-inch drop front springs and I measured very caredfully but they only lowered my truck about 2-inches. What's with that? I am really frustrated with Western Chassis and Sports Truck Direct. REALLY UPSET!!!''
Is there any way to lower the front end another 3/4 inch without replacing the springs? Any suggestions?
Thanks guys,
Bill

What engine do you have? I've read posts where people didn't get the full amount of drop because they had the V6 which is lighter than the V8s. It might also be your cab configuration too. I've parked next to Supercrew F-150 with the Belltech 3/4 and he was a good inch lower than me!

Thankd Guys! I have a 4.6 V8 Regular Cab Step-Side
They might settle some but not very much. I did a 3/5, using a flip-kit on the rear. That worked very nicely. But now, it is setting perfectly level. And I was expecting to see the front-end lower than the rear.
I thought you guys would have some ingenious fix for me!! Ha!

But, with my new front SS front bumper cover (which is coming around the end of Dec.) maybe it will appear to be lower in the front. Stranger things have happened!! Here, I have used Photoshop to install a valance grill and my new KC Driving Lights.

Bill,
Your truck should settle after a couple of weeks. l know mine did nearly an inch. It only measured 2 3/8" of drop right after the install of 3" (1"spring/2" control arm) front and 4" rear drop (hanger/shackles) with a Western Chassis kit. I do have the 5.4 engine, though I don't think that should matter too much. I was told that you can get shorter spring seat cushions (haven't verified this). If you drive hard through the curves you will probably soften up the new springs some too.
Here are some pics. You might need to lighten them up to see details since it was cloudy on one of the days they were taken.

Bill, I have the same experience. Western 3" drop springs only dropped 2 inches. Mine have been on a year now and haven't settled much more. I've wondered if the stock sway bar end link has something to do with it but haven't tried to change it.
Now here's what yer a gonna do...
Step one:
Get yourself beer, lots.
Step two:
get a couple a big ol momma's. get them a couple a pie's and just have em sit on yer front end fer til thems pies is et.
by gum it'll be alowered sumpin' good.
Step three.
call a body shop to fix the dents in the hood...
