Question Lowering my Supercrew

Planning to lower my 2002 Supercrew 2/4 or 3/4 with new control arms and coils.

Any recommendations on Beltech or other kits?

Can a weekend shadetree mechanic do the job? Paying someone to do it I have an $1,800 estimate which I want to avoid.

$1800 OUCH, where did you get that quote from? That is insane. And yes, a decent shadetree mechanic should be able to get the job done in less than a day.

Other kits to consider include a DJM, many people have had good success with that kit. From my understanding it is comprable to the Bell Tech kit.

Good luck, and let us know what you end up doing.

I have the Belltech 3/4 kit and I'm happy with it. The kit contains coils for the front which I hear are easy to install. The back has shackles and hangers. The shackles should be easy but people complain about the hangers since they are riveted to the frame and require an air chisel to remove. I paid a shop to install my drop for $350. The kit itself was $480 so grand total with installation was $830 well under your $1800 estimate!

I did my front coils and rear shackles in less than 4 hours. i am a weekend mechanic and no expert by any means. but, it took me like 8 hours to get the hangers off. if you can get someone to do the hangers for you, you will save yourself a lot of pain. i would do the coils up front and shackles in the back myself and then let someone do the hangers for $200.00 or so. but, $1,800.00 is a rip off. go someplace else.
