99 Expy Clunk

Hello All, Been a while since i have posted,

I just recently bought a 99 Expedition with 30000 miles on it for 18K. Ok. I got the 2 month 2000 mile warranty with it. But the main reason i am writing this..

I have noticed a clunking coming from either left front or the left rear. I can't seem to narrow it down. I have looked at everthing but it all seems to look brand new. My kid says it sounded like the rear right side window was loose.. but i sat back there and it seemed tight to me.

All you Expy owners out there.. have any of you had this problem?? It happens when i go over small to medium bumps and the more wieght i put in the back the less i hear it. Please let me know if any of you might have an answer.. I am taking it into the Dealer on Monday

Thanks
Scott

My 98 does the same thing.I also checked the spare tire, it's tight as can be.It is really bugging me.I also checked everything and it all looks new.It sounds like mine is coming from the left fron torsion bar are left rear spring, control arm. What is it?????

Clunk

Well,

Its still there. I took it to the dealer and got the "could not duplicate" so.. I am gonna take the guy for a ride. But its exactly where yours is coming from too I don't think i have torsion bars though its only a 2wd. But its definately coming from the drivers side under the rear drivers side seat... I looked under there and there is nothing there at all... Maybe its a body mount or some thing. The guy at the shop tightned up the spare tire and tightened my exhaust hmmmmm ok.. if he thinks that would cause it.. heheh But I am gonna go put it on a lift myself when i get a little extra time.. Let me know if they ever find out what is causing yours

Check, and double check the upper rear shock bolt. They are notorious for coming just loose enough to clunk and thump. I lived with it for almost a year before finding, after checking it once.

It's a bear to get to but try to get a wrench on it so you can really feel that it's torqued down.

karnage,
Did you fix the problem? My 99 Expedition does the same, except mine has air suspension.

shocks

If there is any doubt drive it with the shock removed. I have had my lunch eaten by this one before.
