Foglight mod...again ? (FedExPilot)

I want to do the fog switch mod. I did it to my 01 but forgot a few of the basic's,like which 2 wire's to splice together.

There was a post from a Screw owner called FedExPilot about 2.5 year's ago. This worked great for me with detailed pic's & instruction's. I found the post but everything is gone off it . Does this stuff delete over time ? Or does anyone have insight on this.

I also did a search and found many different Idea's but would like to use the one that worked flawlessly for me the first time.

Does this ring a bell for any of you ?

Fall

BTW is that FedExPilot guy still around ? I was out for about 8 month's or so . The guy was a SuperCrew wealth of knowledge.

Thank's RockPick,
I am confused about if I need to splice the 2 wire's together or not. I spliced them on my 01 but it does'nt seem like I have to with these instruction's. Only if I have DRL's which I don't.

The operation I want is only to be able to use them in park light mode, regular headlight mode & highbeam mode. Not for the autolamp's. (I don't like autolamp's so I probably won't ever use them.)

Hiya Fall

I am about to do the fog loght mod on my '01 SCrew. I also used FedEx pilot's instructions and another's specific to the '99 to do it on my '99 SC. I, too ran into the same problems finding the posts you are talking about. They seem to have dissappeared.

Anyhoo....I have gathered the info I need for when I have time to actually do the mod.

Here are the links I have gathered. You may want to ignore the "tedoca" link. It is the one specific to the '99. I saved that link just because it was so clear and easy to understand and the wiring part should be the same. I believe the only difference is that the '97-'99's used a "conbination" with the light switch **** to release the switch pod from the dash panel. On later models, we have to pry it out. I am not looking forward to that.

A little note: I used a Dremel tool instead of a file to modify the ramp when I did this to my '99. It worked so well. Very quick and easy and the switch operated as smooth as it did from the factory. I later did my brother's '99 and with the experience, did his in about 20 minutes.

Thank's I hope to do this soon. You think since I have already done it once on my 01 I would remember, but since I hit the big 40 thing's are fading (just my memory, everything else is working fine).

After this is done I think I will do the Sylvania Silver Star bulb's on the headlight's & fog's.

I understand the info on how to do this.

The only question I have is do you have to splice the wires or just do the mod to the switch?

When I read the document it seemed to give an either or sort of thing.

It's a 'both' type of situation if you want it to work as it shows. Splice and mod the switch.

Hrm...Interesting!

I dont have a switch that controls fog lights thats beacuse I didnt have fog lights on the F-150 till now (well next week once I get the truck back) I think that I will probably tap into the headlight power wire (of the fuse box) and run it to a relay and just run the head lights off of that.

Can I get a switch that has the fog light controls on it? will it work in my truck? how much does ti cost? would I need a different wiring harness? Im thinking it would be too much of a pain in the *** to do it like this but I dunno it may be worth a try. Also what about the 'auto' position of the switch is the sensor in the siwch to make ht elights come on automaticall or is it behind the rear view mirror or on the dash ?
