Lightbulb Lightning Taillights in a Screw

I think I've read a thread out here at some point that the lower mounting screws when mounting Lightning taillights in a Screw need to be shorter, or shimmed, or something. I just bought a set of these for my 2001 Screw and want to make sure the installation goes smoothly.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

The mounting screws on the factory Screw lights are longer than that on the L lights. I used my L screws with my L lights. You just need to use a washer on each screw to make up the difference in length. If you dont the screw will bottom out before tightening up. Hope this helps!---Paul

i just went to Home Depot with my SCrew screws and and got got shorter ones. I didn't want to use washers. They worked perfectly. I don't remember what the size was though, sorry.

I just put in about 5 or 10 washers on each screw and it worked fine.

Thanks,

If I go to the trouble of buying a set of OEM Lightning screws from my local Ford Dealer for use will my new tails, will that work (i.e. eliminate the screw length issue), or are the Lightning screws different yet? They're probably a couple bucks apiece at the dealer, but I'd rather pay the price than damage my new tailights.
Let me know if you think that's the ticket.

Jaguar... I got my Lightning tailights through Ebay from Fordpartsonline.com for $172.00 + shipping of $8.50. Not bad considering what I've seen them go for elsewhere.
Good luck.
