What does a SuperCrew weigh?

I just bought an F150 SuperCrew 5.4L engine, 17" Aluminum wheels, and it's a Lariat with all options. Now I would like to know what this rig weighs. I have not yet had the opportunity to pull into a weighing station to find out myself.

Surely some of you that tow have checked the weight of your truck.

Thanks,

Tom

I hauled some scrap to the dump a while back and asked the person at the scales what my truck weighed upon exiting. I don't remember the total, but I subtracted my weight, the weight of the gas (6lb per gal) and the weight of my passenger, and I figured 4780. This is for a 2001 SCrew 4X2, 5.4 XLT, 3.55 LSD.

There is a link somewhere in this forum to PDF specifications for the F-series (Payload Capacity and Standard Equipment Specifications). The weight can also be determined from these sheets. I compared the specs with my actual "measured" weight and I believe they were within 20 lbs.

I went to the dump last week also. After subtracting the passenger weight I get right at 4700 pounds with less than a quarter tank of gas. 2001 4X2 XLT Supercrew 5.4L and 3.55 LSD.

Its suprising the numbers came out so close to Noahs Dad. I don't think the scales at the dump are calibrated very carefully.

Thanks for the replies

I have always driven a Toyota prior to this SuperCrew. I really like it. It is very different fromt the light weight trucks I have had before, I can really feel the weight and notice the gas mileage. It already has a K&N Filter and I am considering a chip for the engine next. It has about 1400 miles on it so far. Based on your experience will the gas mileage improve at all when the engine gets broken in? or is that just a pipe dream.

Based on your replies I will guess the weight of my truck at about 5000 lbs til I get to weigh this rig.

Thanks again . . . much appreciated!

Whenever I've gone to the dump, it weighs in at about 5,400 lbs.
I think the propane tanks and add-ons have made it heavier than normal.

IrHogFan - Registration weight

My registration says SCLWT and then underneath that it says 4987. Was that the weight of this truck at the factory with no fluids or what?

TIA - Tom

unladen weight

I am pretty sure that this just means that it is the empty weight of the truck without any passengers or cargo. I am not sure about the fluids part, it seems like they would almost have to have some fluids in before they could weigh it. Looks like you can take about 5000# and add whatever else to it. Probably about 5500# or so with everything in it.

Tom,

I definitely noticed an increase in gas mileage since my truck has broken in. It is a year old and has 20,000 miles on it, when I got it with 2 miles, I rarely cracked 12 MPG, but now I always get at least 16. I think it is a combo of both the KN filter, Flowmaster exhaust, and Mobile 1 oil, but I could be wrong. Anyhow, it runs smoother now too.

Well...

To make my Screw lighter I filled the tires with helium and the cab with helium ballons ... I didn't notice an increase in gas mileage . So I started buying my gas in Imperial gallons instead of US gallons . The gas price was higher but I got dramatic a increase in MPG. I am just wondering if I will need to recalibrate the fuel gage for Imperial gallons? Hmmm... how do I convert 34 PSI of air to get 34 PSI of helium. These new fuel saving techniques just seem to get more and more complicated .

That is what they refer to as "book weight," what the computer says it "should" weigh with the items that were installed.
