Locking Gas Cap

Anyone have a part number for the Ford Locking Gas cap? --the one that is just like the stock one with the little 'teather' to keep from loosing the cap?

Anyone have one? Good/Bad/Other? Any comments?

It just seems like a smart mod to me... the tank is too easily accessible to some idiot that wants to either A) steal my gas or B) put crap in my tank.

Thanks in advance.

I've got the exact locking cap you are referring to. I got it at the parts dept at a local Ford dealer. It works and fits perfect. It also has a silver 'Ford' logo'd cover to keep dirt out keyhole area. I don't have the part # because I threw out the box long ago, but it was around $20. Your dealer's parts dept should be able to hook you up with one!

I got one from Ford that works well. I also got a lock that slides into the tube for releasing the spare tire from Ford. I thought it would be too easy to take the spare. Two and a half years and no trouble from either.

Thanks for the info on the Ford locking gas caps. I'm gonna check it out at the dealer near me.

My F150 is the only vehicle I have outside in an unsecured area and I'm not worried about gas theft so much as a prankster putting craap in my tank especially when there are vindictive "ex's" out there, heh.

So the ones that you guys have actually still has the 'tether' that connects to the truck to keep you from loosing your cap with it? That's EXACTLY what I want. . .

THANKS GUYS!! I really appreciate it!

But Rock.....

Surely that's exactly what you want to do with it.....LOOSE it.....otherwise you won't get the gas in. (Te He....again)
Now I can understand you not wanting to lose it....!
Anyway who wants to steal gas at the stupid low price you pay for it.......over here now THATS a problem !

(Just to let you know I'm keeping an eye on you !)

Way too bloody much !!!!!

Considering we had our own North sea Gas supplies God knows what the Government ever did with the revenue !

Dear Mrs Thatcher had something to do with it.

Yuk !

How people could like and admire that awful woman has got me beat.

Anyway to your question......about 4 times what you pay.

Every time I come home here from Texas I have to grit my teeth when I go into the petrol (Gas) station....and you wonder why we don't all run trucks !
(Besides the fact there isn't room for them!)

Though I am going to bring my KR back one day when I can write the valuation down enough to justify the import duties.

And where have all those wierd smileys suddenly come from....Rockpick ?!

Ford Part Number for Locking Gas Cap:

XU5Z-9030-FA List Price: $45.22.

The list price is high, but you will find most dealers or online parts places selling it at about $25-$30.

Try www.FordPartsOnline.com (my favorite online place).
