Xenarc Headlights/Lightning Headlights
I see your point Dennis but I believe the focus of the heads would be similar to that of the stock heads and thus, the light would be focused downward towards the pavement and not the oncoming traffic. I don't think it would be much of a problem for those that I'm sharing the road with....
Also, like dufunnel, I've checked with my insurance company and they tell me that they would cover the first $1000 worth of mods damaged in an accident however, if I wanted additional insurance to cover additional modifications, it would run around $15/$1000 worth of mods. In short, those of you with mega-dollar rims and/or stereo systems, you might want to contact your insurance company so that you're covered come hell or high water.
I'm still not sure what I'll do. $500 for the Xenarcs is a helluva deal but, on the flip side, I'd really like to get more than half out of my L heads.
I'm going to have to think this one over...

Its State Farm. The only thing they wont cover is my second amp because its not bolted in a factory location or mounting space. It was going to be 49.00(every 6 mths) more for a stereo/audio rider for a amp that cost 300.00 . The other rider does cover the in-dash stereo, speakers and etc.
They added the following items as the customization rider and put in the vehicle value also with no added cost on my premium. Its added to the value of the truck that they give it so it also increases the payout in case of a totalled claim and etc.
They got receipts and took pictures of all of the following that were added.
L headlamps & Turns + the Sylvania Silverstars
Pilot remote controlled fogs in lower valance
Both upper and lower Stull grilles
Bug deflector, and all window rain deflectors on front and rear
Wheels...chromed oem style. Upgraded from orig 5 spokes
Step Bars and Bed Rails
Keypad upgrade
Alpine stero HU and mount parts
Speakers-Polks in all doors
Clarion sub(not in a factory location)but they covered it as a console??
Soundproofing/special insulation..had a box on the form for that
Exhaust system with tips
Superchip
They were checking on the superchip that day and said would call if not able to cover. He claimed it fell under a performance modification that would be a shady area and would call me if not covered that day. He called later and said all was added so I guess it was covered
The agent said I was under a certain $$ amount so most was covered under general policy but some were not and he suggested getting the rider to cover all bases. He also highly suggested a alarm for anyone who values their property and would give credit on policy if it was a Factory alarm. I`m currently looking into that one.
I also have 2 car policies, motorcycle policy, Jetski(watercraft policy), life insurance and homeowners for over 18 yrs so that may have factored in also. Like I said when I received my renewal it was for the same amount plus $3.50 for a increase in uninsured/underinsured provision we get stuck paying in NC for the people who dont like to pay.
I have had 1 total claim(wife) and 2 theft claims for wheels and a break ins that made a increase in cost but when back down after the required period with no problems. This is why I stay with State Farm because of no hassles with them

Rockpick,
I don't know how they would look/react in the Screw, but Im sure it would be positive results. My wife has a BMW with the Xenon headlights and all I can tell you is that they are awesome. They are worth every penny of the $500 option we paid to get them. She did not want them, but I told her to order her car that way. She is definitely glad she did.
Not only do they look cool, but they illumination compared to halogens does not compare. They do not hold a candle next to Xenon's. Its like driving with sunlight in front of you at night! I hope that one day I can get a set of HID's in my Screw, but until then, I will stick with the stocks I suppose. However, that is a great deal, so if you have the extra $$$, go for it.
My .02 cents anyway.

My wife's Acura TL has a HID lighting system, and from experience I can attest to their value at the retail price. A couple years back we took her car from San Antonio to Cloudcroft NM departing after the children were asleep. I cannot properly express the clarity with which one can see the roadway and shoulder areas. Instead of having to keep an eye for the reflection of the eyes of the deer standing adjacent to the roadway, you get a clear view of them and much improved ability to determine their activities. This alone is very valuable to me, but of course the ability to see the roadway in other situations is much improved also ie. fog, unfamiliar roads, rain, etc... We have an 02 TL now and that car has the brightest high beam set I have ever driven with.
I would strongly consider the Xenarcs as my first mod if I could get them at a your price, but having reviewed the last thread wherein you detailed that the fogs appear to have a much brighter beam I would think they might be the better buy anyway.
Now I bet we could find someone to debate the merits of brush guards versus headlights to reduce the damage which occurs when vehicle contacts animal on the roadway.

Thanks for all the input guys. The Xenarcs sound like they're all that they're cracked up to be. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get them but, I need to further discuss the funds with my wifey.

I have gotten fewer flashes with my HIDs than with my stock lights. I don't know why, but for some reason it must not be as blinding as the stock ones. That doesn't make sense to me, but I have noticed the lack of mad motorists.
I too have State Farm, but it was them that told me only the first $1500. Hmm, I have been with them for years, and my parents for years and years prior. Maybe I should approach them again and ask.

I have the True HID installed in my truck now.. Made by MAX. And I love them! They are a true 8000k system.
