Made the trade
>>>>Got tired of listening to my wife complain about not having enough leg room up front in my 99 Supercab with my two year old daughter's child seat behind her in the back seat. So I traded up to a SuperCrew. Loved my old truck and didn't want to trade it, was sizing up a new Harley VRod for yours truly in the coming months. But broke down and went SCrew shopping, lol wife was bitching bout me getting a motorcycle anyway. Got me a 2002 Lariat 4x4 and the only thing I can say is WOW!!!! I love this truck! As much as I loved my old truck and didn't wanna trade, this SCrew has quickly made me forget all about my 99 Supercab. Picked it up on August 9th two days before we went on vacation. Enjoyed driving this truck tremendously during our vacation. Had a DVD system installed with a roof mounted monitor, was the best money I ever spent. My two year old sat in the back seat with the cordless headphones on and her eyes glued to the overhead screen and never once complained about being in her child seat during the long drive. Had me wondering why I didnt get one of these sooner. Anyway, hadn't posted on here in a long time and was just surfing the board here checking out the SCrew forum, thought I'd say hello brethern.

Congratulations on being Screwed and joining the club. It never ceases to amaze me the number on similar posts I've seen over the last two years. I can't recall any posts complaining about buying this fantastic set of wheels. I sold my 01 Screw three weeks ago and have been Screwless waiting for my 03 which should be here next week. Those three weeks have been miserable.

Congratulations on the new truck!
I know exactly what you're talking about. I went from a '97 SC to a '99 SC and thought Ford did a really great job in improving the truck in 2 years. Then I turned in the '99 for a '01 SuperCrew (0% financing!) and couldn't believe how much better a truck the '01 is. I know the '02 is better than the '01 so I can just imagine the difference you're experiencing.
There's also the added advantage of not having to do the Chinese Fire Drill with the doors when in a parking lot.
The one thing I had to get used to right away was the steering wheel. The '99 wheel felt bigger to me.

I was just wondering the other day if a DVD system with the overhead monitor would fit in the roof with a power moonroof already being there? I quess you just answered my wondering about it. Was there any problem fitting the screen overhead with the Moonroof being there?
The 2001 did not have this option, the 2002 does have the option of having the sunroof and the flipdown screen (entertainment package)

>>>>Nope it worked fine MADD. I was looking for a SCrew with the entertainment system already in it but no dealers in my area had one in stock, wanted a DVD anyway and wasn't crazy bout the VHS. I asked the dealer about it and they recommended a guy locally that did this among other types of installations for that dealership. I was curious like you were if it would work with the power moonroof so we called the guy up and he assured me it wouldnt be a problem. Was a very clean installation and it was mounted right behind the interior trim that goes around the moonroof. It had grey trim around the monitor that matched the interior perfectly and two more over head lights built into the monitor's frame. I've got the 60/40 seats in front so he mounted the DVD player on the left side under the back seat out of sight. It came with two cordless headphones and a remote control that works through the overhead monitor. The DVD system sounded pretty awesome playing through the trucks sound system but I learned to really appreciate the cordless headphones once my daughter got use to wearing them.
I got a three year warranty on it from the installer on the components and installation. Plus it cost me around $60.00 less including tax than the dealer VHS unit would have. I'm very pleased with it so far.

Blaupunkt
>>>>Bigworm, it's a Blaupunkt DVD-ME1 player, came with a wireless infrared remote. It's a fairly small unit, the installer had a 2000 Nissan Crew Cab and it has an indash storage area under the factory am/fm CD player. He installed the same unit under his radio in his dash. My wife has a 2000 Nissan Crew Cab and knowing how small this area was I didn't think it would fit but after looking at his was impressed. He mounted mine under the rear seat on the left side. The monitor is made by Movievision, the system came with the digital wireless headphones and the RF unit. The monitor has an infrared eye receiver on it that works with the Blaupunkt remote control. It has a great picture, can't really say if the monitor is better or worse than many others. Only seen a couple of other units like this one and the picture on this one is as good or better than the ones I'd seen before. I'm extremely satisfied with it and thought it was well worth the price i paid for the system with the warranty on components and installation for three years. The installer did a great job putting it in.
