Bedliners

I'm looking to get some sort of bedliner in my 2002 Supercrew. I'm debating between having a spray-in versus a plastic liner. For those of you who have the spray-in liners, what did they cost?

If I decide to go with just a plastic liner, how is the Ford bedliner? What are other brands to consider?

I would say it depends on what is important to you ...

Cost: sprayed liner will be more expensive (around $100 to $150 more in most cases)
Durability: sprayed liner wins in my book. This is the second truck I had sprayed and would do it again on a new one. Warning both types of liners will fade over time when exposed to the elements. If you have a cover or cap, then you do not have to worry about it.

The reason I would not go with a plastic bed liner is because when it is time for sell it will cost you a couple hundred bucks on what is offered for the truck. I put a plastic liner on an old ranger pickup truck and within six month the paint was rubbed off in some areas and rust was already forming. The plastic liner will keep the moisture on the bed and accelerate the rusting.

If you are worried about resale when you sell your truck. Go with just a rubber mat and let the bed get scratched to hell. Then a month before you go to sell it have it sprayed. Looks like new and the truck will sell quicker.

Plastic liners are for diapers! Do not waste your money on them. You can not go wrong with Line-X.... Or check out a BedRug, only problem with my Bedrug is indentations.

Unless your planning on putting a cover on your bed I'd overlook the bedrug, It would hold too much moisture between the rug and bed. I have a plastic cover and would say that if you have the money.....GO with line-X or Rhino Liner....just make sure they remove the tailgate access panel before spraying.....I will be going for the spray in sooner or later...compared to the drop in.,..they win hands down........

I have the Ford Bedliner and have been very happy with it. No rust yet and I have had it on for over a year. But also run with a cover, during the week. I also like the looks of the spray-on liners, but how good it is, depends upon the person who is spraying it on. If you go that route, ask for referances that you can check up on first.

The Ford has held up very well from trucking garden supplies to hauling brush and lumber and firewood, not a mark on the liner.

Just some thoughts, but go with what you will like. Remember it's your Truck.

I just got the bedrug in my truck, I absolutly love it! And so does everyone else who has seen it.

Now I don't throw stuff in the back of my truck and I don't carry around dirty/greasy/really heavy stuff in the back of my truck. It would dent the bottom of the bed if you threw something heavy in, it has some padding but its not like the spray in.

I looked at the spray in and was going to get a line-x before I found the bedrug. It looks really good and gives a more civilized look to the bed of the truck. Plus the padding is molded to the bottom of the bed making it flat and you can comfortably sleep on it if you wanted.

Just a bit of info on the line-x vs the rhino lining, the lin-x is put in hot as the rhino lining is put in cold. the line-x is smoother and the rhino is more textured. The quality is about the same the most importiant part is the installation, you need a good installer for it to be done right with no over spray/underspray, etc.

Heres there website (bedrug) the picture on the front is, well hey its a SCREW! And yes it does look like that in real life with the countor to the bed sidewall. Also you can screw the bed tie downs and bed extender hardward though it.

I'm leaning toward the spray-in liner. What have you guys paid for the spray-ins?

I paid $370 ($20 coupon from internet) for my Line-X. A good installer is extremely important. My installer removed the bed and tailgate bolts first. My friend’s installer did not. The finished look on my bed is much better than the sprayed over bolts on my friends. Plus, his liner had noticeable high and low spots. It is worth traveling to find a good installer.

ToffMaster!

I had a Toffmaster sprayed in my truck the day after I got my 02 Screw FX4. It came with the factory drop in plastic POS and I told them to get it out and I swapped it for the Stainless bed extender. The difference with Toff is that it is about 3/8" thick and not a real hard liner - I don't an ounce of regrets since it was just what I was looking for.

Depending on what your use (contractor, recreational or just want some protection), there are different thicknesses and hardnesses that will best suit you. The Toff is a little softer than Line-X but, about the same as Rhino and that should give you some idea. As far as I am concerned, those are the only 3 to go with anyways... Personally, I was sold on Toff just based on the Thickness and Softness compared to the rest since I am using it primarily for recreational purposes such as camping, hunting, fishing, and some mild bed hauling (Rocks, dirt, tools etc.), I don't use it for heavy bed hauling and/or lugging HD contractor equipment around. They all have about the same lifetime type of warranty...

As for Price, I found the Line-X and Rhino's to have the widest range of price while still being the most expensive of all the three so that was the final WIN for Toff as far as I was concerned. I ended up paying $390 (including tax or $355/plus tax) and it was done in about 3 hours. If you can, find the place that actually does the spraying, not a place that takes the money and then takes your truck elsewhere....

Good Luck,

Chris (ReelWork)

I have the Ford Bedliner. I like the way it looks. Best looking liner I have seen, with Ford logo in front and it fits under the side rails.
sprayed liners can look OK too, but I have seen some that look shabby. I also don't like the sand paper feel of the sprayed liners. I have hauled lots of stuff in my Ford liner, and it sprays out clean and without a scratch. If you change your mind later, you can always do the spray job later.

Just my .02 worth.

Thumbs up Line-X

I have the Line-X along with a lid. I paid around $250 and it looks great. I don't haul much and the liner is protected from the elements by the lid. Rhino is more textured, and outside of the fact that they offer it in colors...if you're really into the custom look, I prefer the Line-X.

Good Luck....whatever you do don't buy the Aerospace "protectant" from the dealer. They call it the UV protectant.....Aerospace is good but you can buy it alot cheaper.

My preference would be whether it was going to be exposed or not. If it is, go with a spray on liner, if it is going to be covered, I would want the Bedrug brand. The carpet is marine grade and very durable.

I got a Line-x color matched and a lid. Bedrugs are nice, but I needed something a little more durable for hauling stuff. I paid $350 with the color matched paint. Pleased so far, but I spilled some gas or oil on it and discolored it, but it has a lifetime warranty if I want to get it repaired.

I owned my screw for 30 minutes before the Penda Liner SR was installed 216.00 bucks tax included. Depends what you're gonna do with your truck, I wouldn't put a load of rocks on a bedrug. 30 min after the pendaliner was installed I was carting hame 1100lbs of rock for a french drain in my backyard, not a scratch on the Penda (or the truck)
