Parking brake and 4LO
Parking brake and 4LO
My wife drove my new truck today because I needed to get into a restricted neighborhood with our other vehicle. She ended up parking on wet grass with the front wheels over a small median. The front wheels were in soft grass and started sinking. So, she calls me up and says, "Your truck is stuck on grass with the front wheels over a median." I tell her to shift into 4HI. She calls me again and says, "Putting the truck in 4HI didn't help, the front wheel was just spinning and sinking into the grass even more." So, without really thinking, I told her to put the truck in neutral and shift to 4LO so she had more power to get over the median. Now keep in mind the grass is wet and her front wheels had sunk a little. She puts it in 4LO and pulls right out and parks on concrete to avoid the mess again (she took it out of 4LO after getting over the median). She calls me up again and says, "I feel like an idiot...the parking brake was on."
Think there was any damage done to the parking brake? She moved probably ten feet with the parking brake engaged (at very low speeds).
