Question Standard alarm?

We just bought a 2002 F-150 Supercrew Lariat. Does it have an alarm system? I know it has the engine immobilizer, but what about an actual alarm that will sound when a door is opened?

Good choice on your pickup I bought mine about three weeks ago and love it.

2002 Lariat FX4 with the 5.4EFI, moon roof, rear sliding glass, 6-disc changer, captain chairs, towing package, tubular steps, and color Bright Red over Arizona Beige

I rolled down the rear window and locked the truck with the remote. I then unlocked the rear door and opened it and nothing happened. Apparently the truck does not have an alarm. Kind of disappointing on a truck with a $37,000 sticker price.

I thought that the trucks don't come with an alarm standard. You have to get that added on. Now many of them do come with the keyless entry but not the alarm.

Question

Do any of you know of an aftermarket alarm system that can be connected to the factory keyless entry so I can use the factory (FORD) remote transmitters?

Cool I've got one...

I have an OMEGA system in mine with remote starter... It is sweet and works with the factory remotes.. The dealer installed mine but you may have to go with an alternate installer....

I vaguely recall that there's something like a minute or two delay when you set the alarm. It's supposed to give everybody a chance to exit the vehicle if the driver is a bit quick on the lock.

Yes....there is a "Delay" on the OEM alarm..............I would do away with the factory transmitters for you LARIAT. Why have transmitters that don't have suitable range, rolling code technology or even anti-scanning capability.

Go with aftermarket.....WHY..........they usually have a lifetime warranty. See what FORD will do for you 3 years when your "Ford Alarm" doesn't work........................NOTHING!

Do your shopping........buy the alarm you want with the features you want, I personally recommend DEI products, Viper, Python, Sidewinder, Hornet, Clifford and Avital. I have sold and installed all of these for almost 9 years, you can't go wrong.

GOOD LUCK.

Slow down there HuskerF150 - not sure where you got your info but the Ford transmitters DO have rolling code/anti-scan technology.

To answer SeaDooHHI's original question - the '02 Screws only have the immobilizer and the PANIC alarm that sounds the horn and flashes the lamps when you press the PANIC button on the transmitter.

There is no Perimeter Alarm system available - standard or optional from the factory on current F150. The dealers will install a Ford Aftermarket alarm - it is pricey though. I would look for a reputable installer if you go completely aftermarket.

For the record, the delay that is built into the Ford alarm system that is available on some vehicles is 25 seconds.
