ATV's in a Screw.

Is anyone hauling a 4 wheel ATV in there SCrew? Is the tailgate strong enough to load the thing on the truck with ramps?
Went with some freinds this weekend to camp and they had a couple there. My 4 year old son loved it to death riding them, so might be time to get one. Any feedback? Thanks.

I don't have personal experience with one in a S'Crew - but I have seen them on the road. I guess it kind of depends on the size of the ATV. I wouldn't think that the tailgate would be any weaker than my F-250 tailgate, which holds the weight of my Suzuki LTF250 with no problem.

No problem SCOTTS-CREW, I haul a Polaris 400 4x4 with full load of accessories, bars two winches, 27" 589 tires, etc (read:heavy) and have no problem with tailgate issues.
One word of advice though, tie the tailgate down, to the bumper or hitch, it will fly up with the atv over large bumps and come slamming down (not good for the cables). I know this from personal experiance, the cables didn't break, but they couldn't possibly take it for very long.

p.s. I traveled this way for over 4800 km on a moose hunting trip with no problem, 2400km without tying the tailgate and 2400km back home with it tied.

no problem, i haul one from NC to OH and back once a month. Don't get a Chevy though my buddies broke his gate and both he and his bike went down for the count. Luckily the back wheels landed ok so he wasn't hurt. Apparently he had a bad cable.

Just an fyi, if you use the bed extender, it will prevent the tailgate from bouncing.

i haul a 400ex with my back wheels on the tailgate. i have a extended read axle so i can't get it in the bed. i have no problems. i mean if you are gonna drive like a maniac then.... but if you are easy going and in no rush then you'll have no problems.
