First Screw

2001 was the model year for the first SuperCrews. I believe the first ones were delivered in early Feb. of 2000.

I am sure someone knows the exact date.

That is correct. I ordered one in Dec. 1999 and my dealer got his first two in FEb. 2000 and one of those went home with me. We couldn't wait for ours to come in and good thing we didn't. The truck that I ordered didn't come in till May 2000(five months). So I have one from the first production runs and have had very good luck so far at 35,000 miles and 2 1/2 years.

Goldsupercrew looks like you have a collector's item (lol)!!! I have one of the first 2001.5's ordered in mid-July 2000 and received 08/29/00. Just sold that one and have a 03 on order! I am Screwless until the Ford gods get going on building my new one.

The Generation 1 was born in Jan "00. I received my first Screw 4/2000. I loved the truck, except for the front-end geometry issues. Namely, the pitman arm and the tie rod were a real problem with lateral movement. After numerous arm and rod changeouts, steering box and shaft replacements, FORD engineer tests ( which are a joke ) and the discussion of a Lemon Law issue, I traded it with 30k miles on an '02 Screw. Big difference! Better truck, frontend issues have been resolved, and earlier options are now standard on XLT's.

I like the '02 and can't wait on the new/improved '04 to come out. I still feel the Gen 1's were a new production issue and several dealer mechs agree. "We would fix it if we could."

Anyway, good luck with whichever year you have. However, if you are in the market,I suggest you stay away from anything less than an '01 GEN III.

Just my 02$, but there are far fewer dealer complaints with the later vehicle.

Be careful what you wish for

'04 could be a big disappointment. I wonder if it is going to have a chrome bumper or the one like the '03 Expy's. Ford could not put that plastic facia on a Truck, could they? (oh yea, the Expy is a truck)

I hope they hit a homerun next year with release of the new F-150s.
