For those who ordered a 2003...

Again, same body style and motor (we knew that).

Was happy to see the noise stuff, although my 1997 and 2001 F-150s are super quiet compared to other vehicles. Something I have always bragged on at highway speeds.

Noise reduction

Well I guess that means at Highway speeds I will be able to hear myself whispering, "Man what a great truck" "I love this truck" OVER and OVER!! LOL

I contacted my dealer about my 2003 order. He said that Ford has delayed the start of production until August 1st. (Don't understand why when there should be very little to retool. Wonder what's up?)

Anyway, he is telling me 6 to 8 weeks from that date. He is sending me my computer order in the mail. I will post what it says when I get it.

Conway,

This does not surprise me and it is not unusual when they first start-up a new Year's production line. Dealers are always on the short side when making a sale and that is understandable. When I ordered my 2001 Screw in July of 2000 it was the same story. As of Friday's VOPC info my 03 Screw was still "Clean and Unscheduled awaiting serialization".

Anway if the delay is until 08/02 then I guess I will see my new Screw the end of September, which was what I realistically expected anyway. By the way when you get your DORA let me know and I'll give you the VOPC info you need to track it over the telephone.

Conway,

Did you get your DORA yet? Just checked VOPC on my order and finally it is reporting as of 08/01/02 the 03 Screw has been "serialized" awaiting a "Built Date". The order was placed 07/03/02! So from past experience I'd guess mid-Sept for delivery on this baby. I'm going through severe Screw withdrawl since I am without my 01!! Oh well!!

I basically got a 'screen' print of my order. No identifying numbers. I assume the DORA is an id? I will be calling to find out. I would appreciate knowing how to track it as I bet others here would too. What do I need to get from the dealer as far as info is concerned? Thanks!

Yo Conway

Hey,

Just called VOPC today and the message is now. "Your vehicle is scheduled to be built the week of August 19th. I may see this baby by the end of August! By the way ask your dealer to send you the "DORA" for your truck. Once you have that I can tell you how to read the info necessary to access the toll free VOPC phone number. The DORA will have your order number and dealer's code on it. Without that you cannot access VOPC.

Mike

By the way I am out of town and have access to my sister-in-laws computer tonight; but won't be around another computer til I get back on Aug 14th.

Thanks for the info!

I now have what appears to be the order number [4 digits] and the dealer number [1 character and 5 digits].

if indeed the interior on the '03 is significantly quieter than previous years...i suspect the number of complaints about other problems will go up (ie...axle whine, rattles, etc).

I plan on ordering my 03 Screw this week. Can either one of you guys help me understand what "DORA" and "VOPA" is?

Also, if I order it this week, when do you think it would be realistic for me to get my new Screw?

TIA,

Jim

Contacting VOPC

Ok a "DORA" is your "Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement" it will show the specifics of your order and pricing. On the DORA will also be your Dealer's code, your order number, and body style code. You will need those when you access VOPC "Vehicle Order Processing Center"!

First your Dealer's code will be found near the top of your DORA and should have several numbers (probably five with at least one letter in the middle). An example would be 1A2345! If your drop the letter, in this case "A" that gives you your dealer number to use when you access the VOPC. In this example "12345"! Somewhere near the top of your DORA you will also find your body type (probably W08) and a four digit order number; example: 0011!! These are the three items you will need when you access VOPC.

Okay dial toll free 1-800-962-3746 and press " 1 " when prompted. After that just follow the voice activated menu!!!! I hope this helps!!

By the way Conway as of today VOPC reports my vehicle to be built the week of 08/19/02 with an ETA the week of 09/02/02!

Jaguar,

My order was placed on 07/03/02 with a delivery now scheduled for the week of 09/02/02! You do the math.

Thanks, Mike!

I tried it and got that mine was scheduled to be built the week of 26 August. Guess that puts mine a week behind yours. The system didn't tell me anything about estimated delivery time, though.

Thanks for the response. This worked just like you posted.

MtnMike,

Thanks for the information. I just ordered an 03 Screw tonight. Can't wait to get the truck.

BTW, I saw a new 2003 on my dealers lot in the new color, Burgandy Red Clearcoat Metallic (same color I ordered my Screw in) and what a sweet color it is!!!!
