Question Bugshield

I'm looking to add a bugshield as the next mod to my SCREW. I've done some homework and right now I'm leaning toward the LUND Interceptor. I like the fact that it extends past the hood and protects the fenders. I also like the fact that it is hardware mounted(no tape and claims to install without drilling holes in my truck) and based on the description it seems to have good clearance so it won't scratch the paint and is easy to clean behind.

Just wanted to solicit opinions, likes, and dislikes for this model or any other bugshield model you have on your truck.

Thanks for any and all feedback,

Tim

I am very happy with mine. Even going 80 or 90 mph it doesn't flap in the wind, and I like that I was able to paint it to match.

I got the one from WeatherTech, and after 3 weeks, so far, so good. It installs with plastic fasteners in the existing holes in the hood, so no tape is needed. It took less than 10 minutes to install. And it extends out over the fenders, also.
They did send 4 little bumpers with adhesive backing to put on the hood to keep it from rubbing. But, I called the 1-800 number for specific placement, and they told me that it hasn't been a problem with the F150. Anyway, the clearance seems to be sufficient. It would have to come back an inch or so to rub.
It's a dark 'smoke' color. I don't know if you could paint it or not.
All the info is at their website, www.weathertech.com.

I bought one last April at a local swap meet. The guy had about a half dozen of them for 20.00 each. I repainted it with a kit that as you walk/drive past, the paint changes colors from a gold to magenta. I get a lot of comments on it. It was easy to mount also.

So far, no complaints with the Interceptor after ten months.

I have had the lund now for almost a year and 1/2. I like the low profile design and has others have said, it doesn't buck at high speeds and it doesn't touch the hood at all. I did go with the clear, because it looks better on the silver, plus as others have said, I can paint it, down the road.

I also got the weather tech ( at the same time as the vent shades ).

Put it on the night I got the truck from ~ 26-MAY-01.

It does not shake at all, and as stated above, no holes to drill, no tape.

I did the smoked color, b/c I always do. Did not think about doing a silver one....

The last Lund I have was on my '81 F-100....They were nothing like they are today, so I cannot even begin to compare them.

Also Weather Tech is 2 towns south of me in Downers Grove IL, so I could just stop by and just pick it up, rather then haivn git shipped.

I have the EGR BODYGUARD, this is the third one I've had, one on a 94 F350, 98 Ranger and now I have one on my screw, they are about 75.00 but well worth the money, I have had road gravel deflect off this guard at 65 mph and only leave a small mark on it, not break like all the other one's, and you can wash behind it without removing it.....sorry no pic. yet

EGR "3D Carbon Fiber" bug shield.

No complaints so far. Mounts off the body far enough to easily clean behind.

I have the Ford bug guard; I took it off recently. It was sratching the paint. Too close to the hood for cleaning too. It is very flimsy, cheep is a good word for it. It cost $75.00 for the dealer. Go with anything but...

Ive used the Ventshade brand that sell the Bugflector but I used the Hoodflector model which is not as tall as a bugflector, I liked the lower profile and it still keeps rocks and bugs away plus it mounts usuinfg factory holes and push plugs to install

I've got the cheapo Bugflector II from Auto Zone and it works fine. $34.99 I believe. Does not shake, does not rub, installed quickly. No drilling or tape, did not need the little adhesive bumpers. Only problem was the plastic pins that are suppose to hold it on are a little weak. All of them held fine except for the one on the far right and far left near the edge of the hood. I replaced them with stainless screws, no more problem.
