Cell Phone Mod
Cell Phone Mod
I have had my truck for about 6 months( 2002 SuperCrew). I have a a problem finding a place to keep my cell phone. No matter where I put it, it seems to fall/slide and I have nad no luck with a spot to put it.
While looking through the 2002 Accessory book for Ford Trucks, I found a cell phone holder for the F-150 family and Expy. I called and ordered it and was abit surprised to find out the thing ran about $40.00 I was not real happy, but hell, nobody ordered me to get it. I put it in, it was a fairly simple mod, although I was alittle nervous drilling to holes into the dash. I can say it has done what I wanted it to do, hold the phone and not look too cheesy, but I think this was alittle high priced, but I like the final finish. I uploaded pictures to my gallery should anyone be considering the same mod:

Just thought I would pass it along.
Have a great weekend

That's a nice install, looks really clean
I'm lucky, I put my phone in the console's cupholder or in the open space between the cup holder and the storage compartment. I need to find a good way to secure my GPS receiving unit near the defroster vent so it doesn't slide around.

I like the holder myself but I`m leary of drilling holes in the dash. My quick and cheap holder was to put a strip of velcro on the back of the phone and then to the underside of the dash mounted cup holder/ashtray. I just slap the phone up there and it keeps it from sliding around truck. Its also within reach when needed and close enough to plug into lighter. When I leave the truck I just push the holder back into the dash. The little piece of velcro on the back of the phone isnt very noticeable and it still slides in its holder.
This place has mounts for EVERYTHING! I used them to mount an amateur rado in my screw.

Hello F150 Fans! This is MRS. JOEEYO! I figured this was the only way to get a hold of my husband here on the board. I wanted to see if all of you F150 owners are treating your truck with the same dignity, respect and attention that my husband is. That baby gets waxed, buffed and rubbed more often than I do! Do ALL of you have this same addiction???
Just kidding JoeeyO! You know I love you baby!

Tracy,
For better or worse.......we all treat our trucks about the same.....sorry.......
joeeyo,
You need to give your bride some "Sugar" man.....take care of her and she will take care of you....who knows..you may find she has a nack for detailing the rig......

I used a Pro mount to mount my cell phone.
It does not look all fancy like the Ford mount, but it does canter the phone towards the driver so you can see it better, versus the straight on view that the Ford mount seemed to have.
The nice part about it is it uses the same bolt pattern as the cell phone cups do, and you can put in an extender ( width wise ) so you can also mount a Palm or GPS next to it.
Also you don't drill directly into the dash, you remove the dash and drill into the frame under it, so when you want to take it out, nothing shows after the fact.
Put one in the Wife's Lexus LS-400 as well, works great.
You can get the button style holders for it as well, if that is the style belt clip that you use ( as Nokia seemed to make so popular ).
The other nice part is you get detailed instructions off the web site, so if you want to take apart a dash, you can down load the instruction guide from the web site, without having to buy the product ( worked for getting a dash apart on the neighbor's Volvo to run the radar detector cord built in ).

I can get some pics of mine later if anyone wants to see it in color, rather then the black and white int he directions. Just let me know.
