tow question

I have a 4x4 Screw with the 5.4 and I will be moving to VA from LA. I was planning on towing my wife's minivan with my truck. I was wondering if it would be alright to tow it behind the truck on a uhaul trailer, not a tow dolly. The reason no tow dolly is because when the front is up on the van, the hitch on the rear of the van will rub on the highway when I hit bumps. By the way, its a 98 plymouth grand voyager. Any comments are appreciated.

I think a full trailer would weigh about a half ton more than a dolly.

I'd take the hitch off or have it taken off.

No, that's not what I'd do. I'd hand my wife some keys and say, "Try not to fall behind..."

How much does a dolly or trailer rental cost, oneway?
You won't be saving any gas because your SuperCrew will get half what it normally gets towing that much.
You won't even save on tolls because it's by the axle.
Wear and tear on your truck towing.
Those little two way radio's are about $40.

What is the advantage?

Do you have a tranny cooler? If so, I would just tow away.

you might want to see if an Auto Train goes cross country close to where you are moving and have it shipped.
