Seal Around Back Window?

Hi guys...I just noticed the other day that my 2002 Supercrew FX4 Lariat does not have the rubber seal around the back window.....is this the way they come now or am I missing it?

I do know for a fact that my 2001 Supercrew XLT did have the rubber seal between the window and the black plastic trim.

Came anyone out there let me know if the 2002 trucks are now not coming with this seal or have I been shorted on this black rubber window seal.

Your help is appreciated as always!

I just had my truck to dealer a few weeks ago for this. They replaced the rubber seal with a totally new seal assembly. I think it is the updated version. Looks MUCH better.

Post Seal

2001

The 2001 rear seal is made of foam that is taped to the back side of the trim ring around the rear window. I took mine in and had the trim ring replaced with the new 2002 style with the rubber seal that goes around the edge of the trim ring, it looks better and seals better. It was also done FREE.

2001screw4.6,

Why did you have the seal changed on your rear window? Was it a item covered under your warranty? I noticed that the rear window seal was redesigned for the 2002 model year. It appears to be a much better design that would be much more durable. Has anyone else noticed this or had any leakage problems? Thanks!

Good question andrier. If I drop in on my dealership, are they going to be willing to replace that seal under warranty? I'm sure I could drip a few water drops in the back carpet and convince them that it's leaking ( ) NOTHING on the KR LEATHER THOUGH!

Thanks!

Went to the dealer today and asked about the 2002 design rear window seal. The one on my 2001 is out of place after the winter (suspect ice damage due to open design). They looked up the specs in the parts manual and found that the 2001 design has been discontinued due to "engineering problems". It shows that the 2002 design supercedes the 2001 part. They have one is stock and will replace mine under warranty.

Yes , the '01 was a terrible flaw. All '01's have the same problem whether the owner admits it or not. Definitely take it to the dealer and complain. they will replace under warranty. I traded my 01 for an 02 just because of all the design flaws, although my 01 was one of the first off the line in 4/00. anyway, the rear seal WILL leak at some point in time. get it replaced free and now.

Thanks guys...I just got back from the dealer and they ordered the new seal for me, no problem. They did ask if it was leaking and I said that it did leak a little.(It looked like it would, eventually). They did not give me any sort of hassle whatsoever.
