Difference between Gen I, II, III SCREWS

Can someone list in detail the difference between the GEN I, II, III trucks? I know the seats are different, but I am not sure how. I also know somethings came standard on the GEN II, III trucks, but not on the GEN I trucks.

Thanks,
Jim

All I know is that GEN I do not have headrests on the back seats. GEN II and III do.

Just a little help.

GEN I's didn't offer remote key-less entry either ... just a little more help.

Gen III has a lot nicer seats than the Gen I....I have owned both.

Gen III to me also handles a bit better than the Gen I...maybe it's just me though!

I believe the GenIII dosen't have arm rests on the captains chairs , but has a taller/wider center console . GenI had a Harvest Gold Color that switched to Arazonia Beige in the GenII

You could get the keyless entry in a GEN I. It was an option, you also had amazon green that went away. There were a few things that were not available back then, but then again, I've been enjoying my truck for 22 months now. I think I had about the 6th or 7th one in town.... now they're everywhere! One thing I don't think is still available is the towing package on Screws. I don't see it listed on edmunds.com anymore!

Ant & Yean:
My GEN I has the keyless entry as well as Ant's. It has the harvest gold trim and handles great--but its the only S'Crew I've driven more than once and its mine so i'm biased. My console is the low one and my captains chairs have armrests BUT my truck is a Lariat and only the drivers' side has the lumbar control and power seat. My passenger seat is just a plain slider with recline feature.
Nice truck for almost 24 months old!

Towing package was/is always available

Has anyone else noticed that they got cheesy with the rear lariat seats for 02? I had a genIII 01 that the whole upper surface of the rear seat was leather with only the sides being vinyl (abd headrest was real leather too). And now my 02 only has real leather on the 3 "seating" positions, it has vinyl between the main sections of the back seat and vinyl headrests.

rear seats

Jefflaws, you're right. I checked a 02 Lariat today, and as you say, only the seat inserts are
leather. I'm also not sure if those inserts are the "Nudo" leather that was used since the supercrew was introduced. The front seats seem to
be, but the leather in the rear didn't seem as soft or have a consistent feel like the fronts(I
may be wrong on this, or it may have just been this unit that I checked). I did notice that the
vinyl that they used was different(at least from
my Gen I). It seemed softer, better matched to the
leather, and maybe better quality. That still doesn't make up for the majority of the seat being
vinyl. I was disappointed that the armrests on my
captains chairs and the top(arm rest part) of the
rear seat was vinyl on my Gen I. Ford must be on another cost cutting project, but they should make
cuts where there not seen and especially felt, since the touch and feel part of leather is what makes it so attractive in the first place.

Yep, i know what you mean, by the way, what was up with the "nudo" leather anyway? Ive had a few new F150s since the beginning of 01 and havent really seen a difference in it.

My '01 Lariat has the split bench. Passenger side has lumbar and tilt. Rear seat has headrests. Sounds like I have a Gen III?

The recommended oil changed from 5W-30 to 5W-50(?) after Gen. 2, I think. All three generations of the 2001's were still on the lot when we were looking, so we were able to try each out. We preferred the Gen. 1 & 2 captain chairs over the Gen. 3's, but I did like the new higher and wider console much better. My wife noticed that the visor vanity mirrors in the Gen. 1's are not lighted, the Gen. 2 & 3's are. The build date's were posted for the different generations at one time, I think the Gen. 2 started around 07/01 and the Gen. 3 around the end of 10/01. I have the trailer package and had the larger (1.4" ?) radiator installed with Ford's recall/$100 check notice. The only benefits of the 2002's that I can see are the FX4 package and the automatic climate control, both of which would be nice to have. I've had my Gen. 1 since 12/01 and 14,000 miles later I still love it.
