FX4 shocks, is this a joke

I was under my truck earlier and grabed the shock, that's a plastic boot, not rubber. After further inspection, it's stamped by Ford Motor Co in the metal. Not a true Ranchero. So is this their standard shock, maybe a little stiffer but painted white with a sticker on it?

I don't think Ford makes shocks. It's like the drop-in liner I have. it says Ford on it, but I know it's made by Duraliner. The shocks you have are made by Rancho, but have the Ford logo on them. If they weren't made by Rancho, Ford would not be able to market the package as having Rancho shocks. Same with Motorcraft oil and filters.

True, they're not the typical Rancho shocks. They're made for Ford by Rancho and I'm sure cost played a big facctor in appearance and most likely quality and function.

It's sorta like buying a Whirlpool or a Kenmore Fridge. The Whirlpool will have better and more bells and whistles while the Kenmore will have some things that are a bit cheaper in appearance and function. Whirlpool builds the Kenmore to Sears' specs.
