2001 vs 2002
I just received a call from my dealer he asked if I was interested in trading my 2001 for a new 2002. Said dealership is looking for quality used Screws. Said he could put me in the new one for the same payments as the 2001. Has anyone else gotten this call. sounds to good to be true.Having owned my Screw since april 2000. I think I might go for it if he puts it on paper. Any comments, thanks
Wow, sounds too good to be true. Either that or they have someone that really wants an 01. Go for it, if they can give you an 02 for no loss on your part it a great deal. I had an gen1 01, the 02 is a lot better.

It is too good to be true.
First, dealerships don't have to drum up used vehicles because they 'need' them. Second, just because the payments are the same doesn't mean you don't pay a lot more. The length of term of those payments means everything. The greatest depreciation occurs in the first year on any vehicle. You might keep the payments the same but you'll loose your shirt on the depreciation. If money isn't a big deal to you, go for it and enjoy a brand new truck.

Look for X-plan pricing further down this forum. Get the pin and whatever else it takes. Go down to the dealer and ask how much to trade in your '01. Ask for the sky... When he gives you a good price on the old one, hit him with the x-plan.
Not sure if it would work that way, but it would be fun to find out...

I tried getting the lowest price on my trade in before telling the dealers of my x-plan. In most cases they cut the trade in amount by half. Needless to say, I sold my truck myself at near what their best offer was. There wasn't any way I could hold them to their original offer, as they would be hard pressed to turn much of a profit.

The 02 is much better than the 01. I just traded my 01 in on an 02 and what a DIFFERENCE! And I did get a better deal than I received on the 01. Just picked up my 02 Dark Shadow Gray SCrew last Wed. and the interest rate was at 2.9% / 48 months. I actually paid less for the 02 than the 01 by about $800.00.
I thought that the 02 was the exact same as the 01. The only difference was the color choices. They come with the same interior, shocks, engines. I don't see any difference. I will stick with my 2001 SCREW until the new body style comes out. It is not worth trading in if you are going to lose money on the transaction.

Well, I was thinking of turning in my '01 and ordering a '02. I really miss my captain's chairs, center console, and 6 disc CD player. I WAS, that is, until I found out that the FX4 doesn't come in Arizona Beige. I really like my '01 Arizona Beige ORP. Not too keen on the color choices that come with the FX4.
I guess I'll wait to see what the '03 models are like. Maybe the FX4s will come with the Arizona Beige again.

I too want a new screw only because I want to switch to a better color that is easier to take care of like the Silver or Dark Shadow Gray. The changes are so minor between the 2001 to 2002 that I will hold off until the new body style come's out . I hope it look's as good as these do and I hope it will haul a$$ a little better and have a gear ratio selection. Without these little thing's changing I see no need to upgrade to a 2002.
From what I hear the change will be on the 2004's. Is that correct ? If so then you have to think about these being available in 18 month's or less. That's not to long of a wait & let's hope the benefit's are going to be worth the wait.

Yes, an explanation is in order. First of all,my 01 XLT was a Gen 1, having been one of the first SCrews off the line in KC (0401). So, there are some differences between a 01 Gen 1 and an 02. The seats, headrests,auto-door locks, 2 remotes, and the steering box internals to name a few. The 02 drives much better than my 01 did, so there may be even more subtle changes that aren't mentioned. A late model, Gen3, 01 Screw may be comparable to the 02, but not to the Gen 1"s !!
