Question power sliding rear window

Looking at the Screw. Anybody know when Ford will make the power sliding rear window available to the King Ranch?

The power sliding window is actually made by C.R. Laurance. In 2002 I believe it is only available as an add on to the Lariat package from the factory.

If you are puchasing yout KR new a good dealer should be able to add it into your purchase and get it via the parts department just like any other accessory. It is even in the Ford accessory catalog.

If you want to add it yourself I would suggest calling Gary at fordpartsonline.com or go through a C.R. Laurance dealer (most van conversion places). I will probably add this myself, last time I looked it was about $325.

ps..It works differently than the sport trac. It opens and looks just like the manual slider.

Hey 48, if you have this done, let me know how much etc... I'm interested in trying this one on my King Ranch. Being a SCREW...it's a tad difficult to reach back there and open the rear glass from the drivers seat... IMO, this should be standard on the SCREW...it's dangerous to try to reach back there from the front.

No ****, I can't believe it isn't standard in Screws.

I did it to my King Ranch. Found it was cheapest from www.oemfordparts.com (Southwest Ford in Texas). Don't remember the exact cost, but it was around $300 I believe. I installed it myself. It was not very hard either. It came complete with new sealer as well, so nothing extra is needed to make it work. Very straightforward installation, and it works great. I love it.

Not sure I know what you mean "Works just like the slider". My dealer tells me that the whole rear window slides up and down. Care to elaborate?

Your dealer is wrong. It slides sideways just like the manual slider.

sport trac slider goes up & down ... supercrew or any F-series truck slider goes back & forth

although I prefer not to have it since I got the moonroof

The power rear slider complements the moonroof perfectly. You get great airflow with both open.

i like the power slider and good point about the air flow ... I just prefer on my own truck to have the one solid piece of glass since I got the moonroof otherwise I would get the slider too , just personal preference.

Hey DUFUNNEL

Can you elaberate a little bit on the removal & Installation of a electric slider. Do you need to remove the rear seat? Headliner?
is the electrical hookup tough to do, where do you route the wires.
On a scale of 1-10, how difficult is is for an average to above average mechanically inclined person.

hey dufunnel..

have any pics? where did you mount the switch. I'm electrically stupid... wiring difficult? Also, does anyone have the actual part #?

I checked with the dealership while I was there today getting a rotation and a tie down hook in my bed replaced and they said it would be $450 for the kit. Of course I'd get it elsewhere but, I'm worried about the install... I'm decent with stuff like that but, not real confident....

All the help you could post/type would be greatly appreciated.
