Question Should I OR Shouldn't I ???

Hi Guys...need your help!

I have owned my 2001 Supercrew XLT (4.6L) 4x4 / 17" tires for 2 years come this April (one of the first Gen I). Love the truck but just got a call from my dealer and asked if I would sell it. They want to ship it down to the USA for resale because they know it will go for some good $$....it is in mint with 20,000 KM on it.

They have told me that I could trade into a brand new 2002 Supercrew 4x4 (FX4 edition) with a 5.4, 17" tires/aluminum sport rims, white/grey two tone paint, captain seats, tow package and the regular XLT goodies all for $7000.00 cash.

The FX4 edition is a $1,500 option that includes such items as skid plates, fancy aluminum spoked rims, 17" tires, pin stripe, Rancho shocks, special front grill).

Should I do the deal, do you think this is a good deal guys?...please keep in mind that I live in Alberta and dealing in the Canadian $$

Your feedback is appreciated!

How many miles do you have on it-it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I do know the fx4 ride is a bit stiffer than the one you have now. Maybe test drive it before you even start to think about it.

Sounds to me like they are trying to drum up business - a dealer close to me does the same thing from time to time. I don't exactly buy the line that the truck will fetch more $ here, because there is a glut of used vehicles on the market due to all the 0% financing programs - it's killed trade-in value in my area.

Unless you are having problems w/ your truck or really want the 5.4L, I wouldn't do it. I have a Gen 1 also, and I like the old seats better and I like the fact that I don't have to use 5W-20 oil. Save the money and get some Rancho RS-9000's (better than the FX4 Ranchos anyways), skid plates (if you don't already have them), and a billet grill instead.

JMHO, of course.

Here in Canada, the FX4 package is costing us almost $1500.00 Canadian.....is the FX4 package worth the extra money guys?

By the way guys, can you get the Supercrew FX4 with white on top and silver or gold on the bottom?

I think I need a new screw!

GO TEAM CANADA!

dark shadow grey is the accent color for the FX4 option, i do not think you can get another color on the bottom unless you pay for two tone paint ($225).

i pulled out my dora and the FX4 was $620 retail i paid $527 xplan. did you know you can get a 3.73 ls with the 4.6 now if you want to save yourself $800 and gas money!

you should go to fordvehicles.com and price a few combinations to find the truck you like best.

USA USA USA!

is this great hockey or what!

You better check the value of your vehicle and the invoice of the truck they are offering, $7000 sounds like alot to me, and believe me, they are making money on your truck and your purchase.... and not just a $100....

Ditto.

Do it because you want a 5.4. Any other reason would not be worth it.

I agree with ChrisS. A dealer by me did the same thing. They said they had to "fill an order" for some used Rangers. So, I went down there just to see what they would give me and they offered my $2500 less than Kelley Blue Book said it was worth.

My advice is this. If you are looking at getting a new vehicle sell the one you own out right. You will always, always, always get killed on a trade. Every time Ive purchased a new vehicle I've waited untill I had sold the previous one then went and looked at a new one. Its the only way, I believe, you can get what your vehicle is worth.
